(CNS): Edison “Eddie” McLean, a member of the Cayman Islands Sport Shooting Association (CISSA), will attend the Britannia Grand Prix, a shooting competition in Dorchester, England in April, and he will also participate in a one-day shooting clinic at Bisley Shooting Range, benefiting from the expertise of an international coach. For his trip, McLean has been assisted by donation of CI$2,000 by local businessman, Don Seymour, who is also a member of CISSA.

McLean has competed overseas in the Island Games, Pan American Games, and was very close to qualifying for the Beijing Olympics. He commented, “I am grateful to Mr. Seymour for his donation enabling me to work with international expertsand expand my shooting skills. This training will in turn better prepare me to represent the Cayman Islands in future competition. For the past 25 years, CISSA has promoted responsible sport shooting and firearms safety education in the Cayman Islands.”

Sport shooting is of growing interest in the Cayman Islands. The range is located past the Owen Roberts International Airport towards the old radar station on the last road on the left.

Seymour said, “I am always delighted to do my part to support local causes. I continue to be impressed by Eddie’s shooting ability and would like to continue to see him represent Cayman in international competitions.”
