Obama eases Cuba travel restrictions
(CNN): President Obama lifted all restrictions Monday on the ability of individuals to visit relatives in Cuba, as well as to send them remittances. The move represents a significant shift in a U.S. policy that had remained largely unchanged for nearly half a century. It comes days before Obama leaves for a key meeting of hemispheric powers, the Summit of the Americas, in Trinidad and Tobago. "President Obama has directed that a series of steps be taken to reach out to the Cuban people to support their desire to enjoy basic human rights and to freely determine their country’s future," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.

Poor Cayman Airways, just announcing daily flights to Cuba…Chuckie and Angelyn, you didn’t see this one coming??? What a waste of the public funds!! I figure by summer they will be flying Fridays and sundays like they used to that is if they haven’t dropped the route by then.
I’m sure within the next 24 hours or so, we’ll see some more propoganda from the MOT telling us about how how good tourism is doing. I have totally lost what little faith I had in Charles Clifford.
watch out for CUBA..thats what i say..they are about to explode into a very popular tourist destination.

tourism challenges are coming guys. the minister responsible for it has not done anything at all to help tourism. i will vote PPM in BT but sorry mr clifford i dont believe you have done your job well or at all so you cannot get my vote this time.
the bigger pictire here is that this is just the beggining of cuba being more accessible to tourists and this will impact cayman negatively. the government should be planning for this and they shoud have already taken this into account for our tourism.
i dont know who will take over from tourism, but definitely charles clifford has been asleep at the wheel and i hope that he does not get re-elected.
It will ease the amount of Cubans coming to Cayman from Miami on to Cuba thus loading to planes now the extra that we were getting from Cubans using Cayman Airways on the Miami and Cuba flights now Cayman Airways have to find a way to fill those flights .

How about let them land and fill up with some water and maybe grab some fruit or other supplies before they continue to Honduras in little more than a bathtub. Just like good Christians to turn their back on a Brother in need!
Hope they aren’t so desparate now as they will soon see a huge in flux of money and, god willing, basic human rights!!
