UN backs drug decriminalization in new report

| 26/06/2009

(Huffington Post): The United Nations has lavishly praised drug decriminalization in its annual report on the state of global drug policy. In previous years, the UN drug czar had expressed skepticism about Portugal’s decriminalization, which removed criminal penalties in 2001 for personal drug possession and emphasized treatment over incarceration. But in its 2009 World Drug Report, the UN had little but kind words for Portugal’s. "These conditions keep drugs out of the hands of those who would avoid them under a system of full prohibition, while encouraging treatment, rather than incarceration, for users."

"Legalize it dont  it!  Some call it Kankee some of them call it Weed, others call it Seed, some call it Marijuana some of them call it Ganja…so Legalize it dont Criticize it!   Its good for Asthma its good for Cancer its good Tuberculosis and its good for Relaxation, it s good for the Whole Nlation!  Those Politicians are smokin it , man those Ganstas are smokin it, all dem Rastamen are smokin it, Church people are smokin it even the Hyprocrits are smokin it!  Stop the hate people and legalize it!   Blessed!"

You see?  This says it all about why the use of ganja should be suppressed.

"Most estimates say we have about 100 billion brain cells (neurons), and about ten times that many, or one trillion, support cells (glia) that help the neurons." (MadSci Network: Cell Biology)

This guy looks to be down to about three neurons, having sacrificed the other 99,999,999,997 on the altar of recreational drugs.

Don’t try this at home kids, or anywhere else.

The Portugal experience is nothing but absolutely convincing evidence that the "war on drugs" is a total failure and a finacial disaster.

We have to stop listening to politicians, lawyers, priests… and start focusing on the "facts and science"  in the decision making process.

The quicker we move on this, the more $$$’s we save.

Weed was made illegal in the early 1900’s under the influence of the mormon church and local government.

The reason was to make it possible to blame black jazz musicians and Mexicans for the downfall of the economy.

Before that time weed (hemp) was a mandatory product for farmers to grow on a part of their land. Hemp has many benifits to humanity. It can grow anywere an is the solution for poor countries.

Thanks to religion and political leaders we have this problem now.

Please, people, don’t believe always what your religious and political leaders tell you to believe. Use your own brain and think and gather info on this. Then make up your own mind.

If something should be illegal it is cigarettes, they kill. Any idea why it is legal ?

In general when something becomes forbidden it creates a criminal oppertunity.

It is"the people" that should make laws, not the church or government.

People do your homework. Ask your doctor, not your pastor or mla.

All that the ban on drugs does is make money for organized criminals.  If the police and the Courts were less full of people charged with mere possession of ganja the rest of our justice system would operate much more effectively.
