Obama names four Caribbean nations to drug list

| 16/09/2009

(CaribbeanWorldNews): President Barack Obama yesterday named four Caribbean nations to a major narcotics list. Under the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, the President is required to notify Congress of those countries he determines to be major illicit drug-producing countries or major drug-transit countries. The Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic were named to the 2009 list, along with 16 other countries – Bolivia, Brazil, Burma, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, India, Laos, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela.

The days of easy money, no tax regimes, living beyond one’s means, pyramid schemes, getting money without producing anything tangible for it is over- as they would say it was just a matter of time before the chickens would come to roast.

You must have been hungry when you wrote that. The chickens come home to roost, not roast.

Getting money without producing anything tangible for it.You have a quaint  understanding of how the economy works.  You do understand that there are such things  as SERVICE industries which add value, don’t you? There are many industries where the work product is not something tangible.

As a U.S. citizen, I will say, he left the U.S. off the list because, Americans are the biggest consumer. The drugs that are made here is Meth/Crystal Meth. Now that you can only buy a certain amount of Pseudofed (or whatever it’s called), the chemicals come from other countries. Yet, there’s still no limit on the amount of "drain cleaner" one can buy here,  an engredient used to make the drug. Go figure!

But then again, that’s why people make the comments like, "dumb American" or "stupid American." Everything we watch on television isn’t always the truth – I do like BBC News, and World Focus, for televised news programs. Once I subscribed to Al Jazeera to see what was happening during "the war,"  only to cancel because I’m not fluent in Arabic.

Are Americans in denial? Yes, some are. However, I lay fault at the system. Here, it should be mandatory that we speak more than one language. Sex is considered a sin and/or, and they wonder why so many rapes in this country.

A perfect example, look at some of the protests happening in our country in reference to our newly elected president – that will give you an example of the people. Most of these people in attendance believe everything they hear. They are fighting healthcare reform, when most don’t have it. The say they don’t want government interfering in business – yet, the global recession is a result of "no government" interference. The regulatory agency that could have stopped Bernie Madoff was either asleep/or was just collecting a paycheck…..

America rapes it people with taxes – even when they die they have to pay taxes.

Small countries have lower taxes. What does America do – call them "tax havens" and paint them to be bad for not raping their people with taxes and allowing Americans (property of America until after you pay your Exit Tax) to pay less taxes.

What gives America the right to tax on money earned outside America? What gives America the right to make smaller countries with lower taxes look like the bad guys?

No one. Its the benefit of being the biggest kid on the block.

      Amen to that

Surely he forgot to include his own country on that list?

    • Twyla Vargas says:

10:34 YOU SO DARN correct, how could he have left out USofA.  I am surprised that Cayman was not on it, because Now-a-days everything that do with money and drugs them want to put blame on us.

  4. Makam says:

How come he missed out Afghanistan? Is that because the USA claims control there?

    • Anonymous says:

      Good Point

Isn’t Afghanistan like the world’s largest producer of Poppy (the plant used to make Heroin)?

    Did he forget us ?

Surely we must use all our illegal tax evasion money for scrupulous purposes.

    • Anonymous says:

If by "us" you mean the United States (See the Bank of New York relating to largest Money Laundering Case in History), then no – America never speaks ill of itself.

This is the same United States that has forgotten that there are over 200,000 companies setup in the state of delaware to do precisely the same legitimate transaction done in Cayman and other offshore countries. They just never mention this because – again – America never speaks ill of itself.

As for the drugs – that is illegal for the same reason Alcohol was once – a poor man could make it. Alcohol still destroys lives today – but its illegal because no poor man can afford a bottling company, let alone produce Alcohol.

So, with that absence of truth, let America say whatever it wants.

      What an uneducated comment.

Very little if "illegal tax evasion money" here.

So now you’re begging for us to be put on a negative list? You are the enemy within.
