Child death caused by heat, police say

(CNS): A toddler died of hyperthermia caused by exposure to heat after she was left in the family car, the RCIPS has reported. Police say they are investigating the tragic death of 3 year old Grace Sperandeo, who died at her home in West Bay on 26 September. Cause of death was determined by Dr Bruce Hyma, a forensic pathologist from Miami-Dade who conducted a post mortem examination on Saturday.

    Don’t you think this family has suffered enough? Why are you people drooling over the possibility of them being put through more anguish with criminal charges?

    I Agree this is going to be very interesting to see how this is played out.

    A CHILD IS DEAD remember if we as civilians driving down the road and hit a child or anybody and kill that individual the charge is involantary manslaughter or death by misadventure.

    I too will follow this case as it will speak volumes of the Cayman Islands view of justice and the protection of children.

    As tragic as this is… it will be interesting to see how this death is classified… clearly no mal-intent was here, but a child has died.. is this involantary manslaughter? Death by misfortune, as is the case with a diving or snorkel accident? Will monitor this carefully…
