After reading the report on “police seek hit & run driver” I contacted the Police Department Friday night (approx 7:32pm) to report that I witness the individual leaving the scene. The individual that answered the phone took my name, contact number and mentioned that someone would be contacting me for a statement.  Regrettably, to this date (Monday 11.Jan.10) I have not received a call. For that reason, I am somewhat astounded with regards to the statement above “Police said that the matter was still under investigation by the RCIPS Traffic Management Department and anyone with information should call 9466254”.

      Typically Pathetic

I’m a little unclear; did you witness the accident and not call the police until after the article or did you witness the car some short time after the accident and not know it was involved with the hit-and-run until you had read the article? Just curious.

And yes, the lack of response by the police is disappointing (an understatement) if not astounding.

The most disappointing thing is that the "witness" does not seem to have rung 911 immediately and asked for an ambulance and the police.  Why on earth would you witness someone leaving the scene of an accident with 2 injured bodies and not call 911?

The police won’t call you back for a statement, and don’t hold your breath either! Maybe if you had called an said that you witnessed "drugs and guns" being moved from one vehicle to another …they would have come at least half the force from all round the Island tearing down the streets with the sirens blasting!!

RCIP Officers really need to get out there in the community and do some work – not issuing tickets either for petty offences – or sitting  on the road shoulders in the shade with the aircondition full blast and chatting on their cell phones AND EARN THEIR SALARIES!!
