Brac police busy with arrests

| 15/03/2010

(CNS): Police on Cayman Brac recovered a quantity of Ganja, drugs utensils, a flare gun and ammunition during an investigation into the theft of filing cabinet from the Watering Place Post Office. Two men have been arrested in connection to this burglary and two more people have been arrested on suspicion of stealing a washing machine and drier, also in Watering Place, police say. Four people have now been arrested in relation to this crime and police enquiries are ongoing.

Brac police say they have arrested an additional two people in relation to the theft of the washing machine and drier from an unoccupied house in Watering Place on Monday 22 February. A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and blackmail, and a 30-year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Both have been released on police bail.

On Wednesday 10 March, police recovered the stolen items from a house in the Alta Vista area, and reported that a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on police bail.

Brac police have also arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of burglary in relation to the theft over the weekend of 6/7 March of a heavy the three drawer cabinet, which contained a small amount of cash, stamps and cell phone top-up cards, from the Watering Place. The suspect has been released on police bail.

Another man, aged 40 years, has also been arrested in relation to this crime. During the operation to arrest this individual a quantity of Ganja, drugs utensils, a flare gun and ammunition were recovered. He has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, drugs offences and firearms offences. He is detained in police custody.

Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay said, “While we are glad to have recovered these items and detected these crimes in a timely manor it is very unfortunate that they occurred in the first place. Cayman Brac enjoys a sanctity and security which is envied by many and I would like to warn anyone who is contemplating any form of criminal activity in the Brac that it will not be accepted or tolerated and we will do everything that we can to find you, arrest you and put you before the court. We will not let one or two opportunist or mischievous individuals ruin what every other law abiding Bracker, resident or visitor to the Island alike, love about Cayman Brac.”

It’s good that the police are working hard to ensure that the crimes committed on Cayman Brac recently are dealt with. Hopefully, the shadow of "The Grand Cayman Effect" will move away from the Brac very soon.

Here we go with the prison suggestion again. And you say you have Common Sense? Seriously, you really need to find something new to write about whenever a topic on the Brac pops up because I believe you are the same clown that keeps writing the same crap. Maybe you’re a friend or family member that’s ashamed to be seen visiting some criminal at Northward Prison and would feel more comfortable hiding your face over on the Brac.

And to the guilty ones (you know who you are),  stop scenting out the Friday evening flights with unna KFC buckets and pizza boxes and keep unna dirt ovah deh!!! Cha!

hahaha..my poor person that tried to comment the brackers scenting up the evening flights with kfc buckets and pizza, if you only knew what was hiding in those kfc buckets and pizza you would see the cause…lets just say some of the kfc buckets and pizza hold some pretty wealthy controlled substaces that would cost about $400 for one bucket alone!!! do bada bing bada boom!!! cha!!

Wow look at this bunch of congratulations and euphoria over this.

I would call it the tip of the iceberg of crime.

I would not be feeling all warm and fuzzy over the capture of some idiots stealing large cabinets and appliances on a tiny island.

Furthermore, everything else that was confiscated is either legal or should be:  marijuana, paraphernelia, flare gun etc.

Also, most of these people arrested were freed on bail!

Stop the war on drugs, and the harm from drugs is enormously reduced.

    Viva Amsterdam!!!!

Good job to the police.  What they need to do now is check all the travellers from GCM coming over with kentucky fried chicken buckets and pizza for cocaine rocks hidden inside.  I guess this is what set off the recent burglaries so they could afford to purchase some of these.  Hopefully family connections in law inforcement will see the need to snitch.

  5. Washing Machine man says:

What can i say? oh well congrats even tho u caught me too!

Way to go – Nip it in the bud!!! Congrats to the police force and the public on the Brac who know they must "snitch" to keep their friends and family safe from harm.

Wow….good work Brac police. Maybe you could show the police in Grand Cayman how it is done.

The community makes the difference also because we have no tolerance to the crime over in the Brac something Grand cayman has lost by saying they are not getting involveduntil it effect you personally.

      Congrats Brac Police

    • Common Sense says:

Lets take this one step further.  Move the prison to Cayman Brac!  Jobs would be provided, the solid infrastructure is there, and gee….sorry, the families of the Caymanian criminals will have to fly or ferry over to visit instead of throwing cell phones and drugs over the walls!  Make it an unattractive place to be: PRISON and we all WIN!

      • Carlos says:

Una come back with this foolishness again?

      • Anonymous says:

Cayman Brac is the best of all three islands.  I don’t think the criminals will consider this a punishment.  This is heaven.  Cayman Brac is like Goldilocks said about the porridge, "this is just right".  Not too busy and not too slow.

      • Fuzzy says:

To common sense Mon..19:01..And what about the families of non Caymanian prisoners?

        • Anonymous says:

Oh, they would have to go to Cuba to visit their relatives, or be asked to pay for the privilege of their loved one being incarcerated in Cayman.

Big deal!!!!!! with  such a small Island as cayman  Brac . Finding those robbers could be done in  half of a day.

      • Anonymous says:

And then Mr. Poster of Big Deal.  Based on your assumption that Cayman Brac crime can be solved in half of a day because of its small size, I would assume  then that the crime in Grand Cayman should then be solved in about one and a half days ,give or take a few hours.

One cannot even compare the two islands . Cayman Brac will always win.
