Baby’s body found in Jamaican landfill

| 02/08/2010

(Jamaica Observer): The body of a baby was found in a garbage heap at the Riverton City landfill in Kingston, yesterday (1August). Joan Gordon-Webley, executive director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), told the Observer that the baby’s body was discovered by workers at the landfill about 1:45 in the afternoon. The child’s sex and age were not ascertained up to press time, as officers from the Hunt’s Bay Police Station were still processing the scene. Gordon-Webley said the NSWMA will be meeting Tuesday with the contractor, along with the driver of the truck that took the body to the landfill.

    Peaches,

It would be pretty obvious that you have nothing to do by making such a comment. As it is the norm that multiple murders happen in Jamaica and the crime level in Cayman rise. This type of inicident or murder is beyond cold and heartbreaking. It maybe news but it reminds us everyday how cold this world can be and continues to get. Like the old phase goes if you don’t have anything good to say don’t say anything at all.

      Peaches,

You are so right, I thought about it the other day why is it that CNS only post the negative out of Jamaica; I have not seen any post about the economy that is picking up; the stabilization of the dollar and several other positive things happening in Jamaica; which all appears in either the Observer or the Gleaner.

But so it go; once it is Jamaica it got to be negative.

So CNS can’t post anything negative about Jamaica but can post negative stuff about all of the other countries in the world?  Every time there is an article about Jamaica you hear this same stupid argument.  News is news.  It doesn’t have to be pertinent to Cayman.  It’s called World News as in the world.  Cayman and Jamaica are not the only countries in the world, contrary to popular belief.

Would love to see any updates on this.  That is so sad.  I really hope that child was already dead and not killed and put in the dump.  They can avoid this by making places of sanctuary such as dropping the children at the hospital or church because they can’t seem to be able to use birth control.
