Drunk driver takes out traffic lights

| 20/08/2010

(CNS): Police are asking drivers to take care this morning at the junction of Easter Avenue and Godfrey Nixon Way because the traffic lights are not working as a result of a motor vehicle accident. At around 2:20am this morning, Friday 20 August, a Honda Accord was travelling along Easter Ave heading towards Shedden Road when the driver lost control and collided with the traffic lights. The male driver sustained minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The car received major damage to its front end. (Photo by Dennie Warren Jr)

Did’t anyone notice what time it was?  If the driver was indeed drinking and driving, what does that tell us once again about the advisability of keeping bars open until 3am?

When these types of vehicular accidents occur one needs to be aware that instead of a broken light there could just as easily have been a broken body lying on the street.

Drunk driving is not rocket science so to all you Perry Masons out there save your concern for the rest of society who live with these drunken drivers.

I hope that if the driver was indeed drunk that he is made to pay for the damaged light. The country does not need to absorb costs born from foolish actions!

  4. Macman says:

OK so now we have to blame someone for putting up these lights in dangerous positions …like at crossroads…duh!

It is never the drivers fault!

Do you think this is the right headline for this story cns ? It says he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving , you are making him guilty before he is found guilty/
