Armed masked men shoot out shop door
(CNS): Updated 5pm – Burglars used a gun to shoot open the doors of a George Town store last night and then made off with the cash register and cigarettes. George Town detectives have launched an investigation following the aggravated burglary of Reflections Food For Less in Godfrey Nixon Way. The four masked men, two of which were armed with a gun, fired several shots at the doors of the premises, shattering the glass, at around 1:30am Thursday morning 14 Oct. The suspects all of whom were wearing masks were last seen running away with the cash register towards Washington Boulevard. (Photo-Bullet hits chocolate -by Dennie WarrenJr)
Although staff were on duty in the store at the time no one was injured. One of the men involved is described as wearing a red shirt with a shirt covering his face.This is not the first time that Reflections has been the target of criminals; most recently the location near the airport was targeted by a robber using a modified flare gun.
After police left the scene today, local photographer Dennie Warren Jr was able to capture this picture of a bullet (right), which was overlooked by RCIPS SoC officers, on the shelves between the produce.
The CCTV footage has also now been released and can be viewed here on Cayman27.
Anyone who was in the area at the relevant time and witnessed the incident or the men running
off from the scene is asked to call George Town CID on 949-4222 or the confidential Crime

Well! Those criminals have clearly demonstrated that their guns are real and fire real bullets, So is the Commisioner going to come off his high horses and start issuing permits to the peace loving Public so that the criminals will at least know that we have matching firepower???

They just opened fire on a shop to gain access, in the middle of the night within earshot of a police station. It’s fair to say the criminals don’t have much respect for the RCIPS.

Every day now I make a conscious effort to spot a policeman on foot – so far (and I’ve been looking for over a week) I’ve seen none. Just a couple of patrol cars with windows up. Why is this?
Update for anybody interested : three more police cars spotted, one parked to right of WB cemetery looking for speeders entering district (an easy conviction) , one having pulled a car over just south of the Governor’s. Another turning right somewhere or other. But no coppers on foot. Do they actually have any officers on foot patrol? By the way, I do believe detecting speeders is very important – but what about the foot patrols?

We should hang our heads in shame and how disgraceful with this type of conduct in the RCIPS where evidence is left at the scene of the crime. Unfortunately this is not a "Isolated incident" but in fact the same old same old under this same old useless leadership.These persons need to be fired immediately to remedy this situation.
TWO police officers came to my friend’s work to force her pay $20 traffic violation fee she forgot to pay. They escorted her to a court house where she paid $20. This is not a joke. Just think how much it cost to employ two police officers to collect $20. It would have been funny if it was not so ridiculous. Meantime…police have so much on their plate to catch criminals.
If everyone who received a ticket "forgot to pay" then what would be the use of issuing tickets to those who break the law. Enforcement of the law applies to everyone for all offences. Seems like you believe that because it is traffic it doesn’t matter, or that you and your friends should be exempt from the law, because it is just a $20 ticket for breaking the law. This is the whole issue these days. A lot of you think it is okay to break the law as long as you can get away with it and that you should not be held accountable if caught. Things need to change badly here. Respect for oneself, others and the law of the land need to be urgently taught to our youngsters if we are to change this cycle.

Prohibit face mask to be brougt in the Island, or people buying them on the Island should be asked to produce an ID. number and name written down.
Face masks can be made of t-shirts which you can’t prohibit the sale of!
On another note, shouldn’t they have been looking for bullets? Makes you wonder what sort of job crime investigations are doing.

Any place else those responsible would have been sacked or terminated. It is national disgrace the state Cayman is in today crime wise.
The big question to be asked, "Is Denny Warren Jr. a more competent and skilled type of Scene’s of Crime Officer to find a projectile with possible ballistic evidence at the scene of a crime, than trained officers from the RCIPS Scientific Support Bureau who failed to find such key evidence having processed the crime scene and left " ??

I wonder if a certain senior police officer will now come up with the excuse this time around that the projectile found by Dennie, was immediately next to some exposed electrical equipment and it could not be recovered by the police at the time, due to the location being such a hazard to police officers to recover such evidence, as was similar to the Fountain Close West Bay "house shoot up" around January 2010 ??

Obviously, the security services serve no purpose as the law does not allow them to be armed and the criminals are well aware of this. The Security laws need to be revised as these business owners and staff who open at late hours to accomodate the public, are putting their lives at risk. This is a shame and I sure hope that the culprits are caught.
Time to be very concerned. We have developed home grown criminals and we have imported them as well. Either way they need to be deported and those home grown must be put away and reformed. No options
No deportation! Criminals are our number one enemy right now. Treason to our country must be the charge and maximum penalty for them (of course you have to catch them first!). No mercy, no wasting money in rehabilitation (we all know it does not work). Use that money for education. Next generation will be better then, with stronger moral values.
Another bunch of lazy ass bums that don’t want to go out there and look work or some stubborn few that refuses to go home because there’s no work permits for them to get.
This is now way past being ridiculous. Family members and friends, you need to start reporting on these men, as you know who they are.
