Local designer featured in leading US magazine

| 22/02/2011

(CNS): Caymanian fashion designer and celebrity fashion stylist, Tigerlily Tamara Hill, is featured in Essence Magazine this month as one of ‘TheNext Top Designers’ to watch. Hill began her clothing line Crown Atelier in 2006 and business is going from strength to strength. She says her Cayman home inspires her chic flexible designs. The magazine, which has a circulation of over one million in the United States, is now available at local book stores in Cayman. This is the second month in a row that Caymanian women have featured in the leading US publication as last month Cayman’s very own supermodel Selita Ebanks was also featured in the magazine.

The magazine features one of Hill’s chiffon silk blouses, which she describes as flexible enough to be worn at work, on the street or on the red carpet.

Congrats to Tigerlily and thanks to Essence Magazine for this exposure; this can only be great for the visibility of the Cayman Islands.

Camana Bay said no they don’t have Essence! They looked at me like I was an alien. I guess diversity is hard to come.

And that is counterbalanced by the film selections in the cinema which seem to assume Cayman is a black suburb of Atlanta.

Oh look another Big Momma movie, great!

Hot! Real hot news. We need more of this man!

Congrats Tigerlily! International exposure always gets Cayman interest. BTW your segment on the Cayman Fashion Solstice this past November was awesome. We hope to see your line featured again on the Cayman runways.

Happy to hear! We rarely get good news these days and this is just so inspiring for us Caymanians. I can’t imagine how hard it was for Tigerlily to break into the fashion industry much less to be mentioned in Essence as on of ‘The Next Top Designers’ . Can the failing Tourism Department not collaborate with this talent. God help us to appreciate, notice and use the talent that we have!
