Cops early morning arrest may have foiled robbery

| 20/07/2011

(CNS): Police were able to arrest two men who were behaving suspiciously at a local business centre in the early hours of Wednesday morning because they had ganja on them but the cops may well have had prevented a more serious crime from occurring. The suspects who were on bicycles were said to be acting suspiciously at the Mirco Centre in George town at around 12:50 and one was described as having his face covered. Two men are currently in police custody and are said to be helping police with their enquiries.

Police said that after receiving the report from a member of the public RCIPSofficers immediately attended the location and saw the men on bicycles leaving the Centre. One of the men was wearing a hoodie and officers instructed the men to stop but one cycled off. He was then stopped by the officers a short distance away. Both men, aged 21 and 24 years were searched and a quantity of ganja was found. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of both possession and consumption of ganja.

Anyone who who has any informaiton on a crime should call George Town police station on 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers 800-8477 (TIPS).

Keep up the good works, good results are sure to follow.  I want you to do the same in B.T.  Continue your good works and make regular checks in close proximity to your precint, expecially after mid-night.  Start knocking on doors, stop cars, look for foot walkers and you may make an discovery.  Midnight movers.

This is the best news that i've read for a long time. I keep sayingthat we need policeto drive around and look for these idle and strange guys riding and walking around. Also those that are in cars too. Just grab them up take them in and thoroughly investigate them and perhapss more crime will be prevented. Rumours are out that there are two young guys moving around in the Spotts Newlands area did not hear if on foot bicycles or what and thats in the day s too.

Good job. Apart from human nature being what it is in that negatives are usually accentuated and positives are overlooked, it is possible that there are so few posts congratulating RCIPS for events like this because these are way surpassed by the unsolved crimes.

RCIPS, continue in this fashion, catch the criminals, prepare good cases for successful prosecution and restore public confidence in your officers. You will see public support and assistance restored also.

Of course it can't be porved if these men intended anything more than riding around with a spliff but the details dictate that I will give RCIPS the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks also to the vigilant and caring member of the public who called in the tip.

Quick response RCIP, and thanks to the member of public who called.  That is what we need to be doing, anyone we see acting out of the ordinary…….Call the police., because you may be helping to stop a crime being committed.  Remember the police cannot be every where, but you can help.  To the police department, I say be getting into the car while the report is being given to you, stop foot dragging, act quickly on all calls with caution.

    well done RCIPF,

Keep up survalance but change your times for visiting each area frequently. next time do not tell the press how you got the information of suspicious activity.

people are scared for their safety and if someone passes 10 minutes before you arrive, the    loosers     might blame the person they saw just before you arrived,

and as you know that person might not have even seen them
