North Side MLA’s office hit by burglars

| 22/07/2011

(CNS): The office of the independent MLA for North Side was the target of burglars earlier this month, Ezzard Miller has said — not the usual type of business premises favoured by villains as the office does not hold any cash. Miller said the only thing taken that he could be certain of was a camera but the computers and other electronic equipment were not stolen by the people who broke in. The MLA said the break-in occurred over the holiday weekend when he was off-island and he did not know what the motive of the criminals would be to break into a politician’s office.

When asked, the police confirmed that they had received a report on 5 July that sometime over the holiday weekend someone had broken into the premises and stolen a camera and enquiries were ongoing.

    Watergate and Nortgate!

    We are now a nation!

  2. Anon says:

Probably took the camera and not the computers because the camera is easier to tote around and easier to dispose of (sell).

Yeah like thugs did when my house was broken in to last year… ramsacked my room took jewelry, my treasured Movado and my video camera with 'precious memory' videos of my kids… that hurt worst than the watch and jewelry… but left my 32'' Flat screen…. like you say small valuables to conceal and then sell…

Took the camera to disguise the real purpose of the burglary.

Took a camera but not the computers?? This was NOT a robbery attempt – you getting too close Ezz… Either that or this is another tactic to beef-up security at certain MLA offices in GCM and the Brac. We broke, but we gonna find this extra and VITAL expense…

I want you all to remember this….

WE HAVE A SHARP DECREASE IN BURGLARIES OF 27% SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR!!!

I am still trying to wrap my head around all of these numbers. Do they just make them up on the fly??

The reporting of this high profile burglary does not negate the statistics.

      • Anonymous says:

        actually it does…

        • Anonymous says:

OK, let me qualify that. Not to any rational person. However high profile it may be it is only one burglary and cannot negate the statistics.

    • Dred says:

You can make statistic say whaterver you want them to say. TRUST ME.

It's all a ploy to work the budgets of government.

Don't call for a Commision of Enquiry and your office will be safe! – NOT!

Mr Miller this just proves you are stepping on a few toes and you are doing the right thing so don't back down old buddy!

…and of course there's always the little listening devices that they love to leave behind.

Wonder if this was a staged break-in…  Ezzard, I'd be pretty careful about using that computer of yours.  They could easily have installed some sort of tracking device that monitors your daily computing affairs.

  10. Libertarian says:

Ezzard, this is a wake up call, focus your energy now than ever on fighting crime!  This is an omen, a sign from God!  Crime has reach at the seat of government, in the offices of politicians – what is being done to educate the young and community?  Regards

    • Anonymous says:

Ezzard has clearly focussed his energy on fighting crime.

"A sign from God"?  God delivering his message through robbers breaking into Mr. Miller's office, right?  Geez!

    Be careful Ezzard.

Someone might try to plant false evidence in your office.

You better hire a cat who is trained to sniff out red herrings.

Wow! Is this another Watergate? Sounds like they wanted to see what other docs or info you might have, Ezzard. Be careful.

    First Watergate. Now North Side-gate.
