Pageant contestants dine with the premier

| 16/08/2011

(CNS): The contestants vying for the Miss Cayman Islands title for 2011 were able to put their recent dining etiquette training into practice when they were treated to a special dinner with the country’s premier. McKeeva Bush hosted the annual dinner evening on Saturday 6 August for the Miss Cayman Islands pageant at the Lobster Pot Restaurant in George Town, where he dined with Jessica Ebanks, Jadine Swanson, Hettie Ann Dunbar, Jera Ebanks, Janelle Muttoo, Alyssa Christian, Lindsay Japal, Crystal Tomlinson and Cassianne Lawrence, as well as Miss Cayman Committee Chair Lynn Bodden. The competition will be held at the Lions Centre on 24 September, when the reigning Miss Cayman Islands, Cristin Alexander, will hand over her crown to the winner of the 2011 title.

However, just before she gives up her local crown, 24-year-old Cristin will compete for another international title when she represents the country at the  Miss Universe Pageant in Sao Paulo, Brazil, next month. The live show will be televised on NBC set on 12 September.

(Samantha Widmer who is also competing in the beauty contest did not attend the premier’s dinner event)

Surprised he didn't fly 'em all off for lunch!

A few random thoughts after reading this article…

The whole group of you ladies should of had a headache that evening and saved yourselves the frustration and the country some money.  He is not often on island, so the chances of a second dinner date would have been slim…

Or maybe I'm thinking about this all wrong….  Maybe we need more beauty pageants so he would stay on island and "get sum wuk" done…..?

I hope the food was good because I can't think of how I would have managed listening to all of  the "ah sweetheart…my darling…" comments that must have come up that evening…

Or perhaps that was the objective of the evening…teach the girls how to deal with male politicians "wid lots ow idaz"….

One more reason not to enter a beauty contest….

That would explain the sulpher smell the next day when I went for lunch.

He was a perfect gentlemen and I and the rest of the girls thoroughly enjoyed the evening with him.

I feel terrible though for us that are competing to have folks around the world see all the ill will in our little country if they are reading this blog. This is such a shame and takes away from the real story here.

Also i would have to say that what woman from any country competing would not want to have their country's leader attend the Ms. Universe pageant? That in my opinion, would be an honor and would show the committment of these islands to it's people and to the contestant in particular.

Cayman lets unite and stop looking for opportunities to pull each other down.

Unfortunately the comments reflect the true feelings for and about the one man voted in to represent the Cayman islands for the everyone. .  Thankfully you and the rest of the girls will not be subjected to the same patern of voting and the island will have a representative that was choosen by the will of all the Cayman people.  Nothing against you and the rest of the girls but who you associate with effects your standing with your voters.

    • Stiffed-Necked Fool says:

Not really, as I would be extremely embarrassed to have my leader attend any function I was participating in if he is under a criminal investigation, so please challo, stop pretending to be one of the ladies writing in.

This message is to "the most beautiful" There are several ladies that already have Associates or Bachelors' Degrees and the scholarship funds will be used to further their degrees ie Masters. They are NOT just a pretty face. Hopefully the judges know of the contestant's credentials and will select a an educated and good ambassador for these islands.

I, for one, being a fashionista of sorts, would love to see more close-ups  of who the Premier is wearing.

      • Omar the Tent Maker says:

I know it is hard to tell from this angle, but Beloved Leader has been wearing my label for years…

        • Wersache says:

          Dear Omar,

I was thinking going more with the spirit of things… like ah…a hot red latex tux next time? Don't you agree?

          Tssssss!

to the most beautiful goes the spoils… Less glamorous women HAVE to work hard and get good grades to earn scholarships to further their education so they can make it in the world.

If this is a "scholarship program" then lets look at their grades, not their legs

I am just going to assume we picked up the tab for this.

    • Anonymous says:

There is nothing he does that "we' don't pick up the tab for. He is saving  "his" money for when the country runs out.

and why shouldn't we…These girls are most deserving..You are only belittling them because McKeeva was there…Get a life!

Why would you think he would do something? How did he put it…..Pure heart or some crap like that. Remember now he goes to church (thinking our loud "that must help him get some votes").

All fun aside these are some beautiful women and I must say of all the crap he has done this one I get. I myself might be tempted to take them to eat also.

If he had shifted the money from the Ministers Association to spending it with those ladies I would have endorsed it under the grounds I coudl join him…lol
