Grocery store owner bars entry to armed man

| 20/08/2011

(CNS): Police are on the hunt for another would-be robber this weekend after a thwarted attempt on a George Town convenience store Friday night. Detectives are looking for the man who is believed to have been armed with a hand gun. The suspect is described as having a dark complexion and was wearing dark clothing as well as a white mask over his face when he attempted to hold up the owner of Solomon’s Grocery store on Mary Street at about 9: 41pm. Police received a report that the man tried to enter the store but the owner locked the door before he could get in.

The would-be robber threatened the owner and demanded cash but ran off without getting any after the owner refused to comply. The suspect left the scene on foot and was last seen running towards the car park opposite Strathvale House. No shots were fired and no-one was injured in the incident.

Anyone who was in the area at the relevant time who witnessed the crime or the suspect making off from the scene is asked to contact George Town CID on 949-4222 or the confidential Crime Stoppers number 800-8477 (TIPS).

What a shame Cayman between the amount of money spent on Churches and law enforcement you would assume that this island would be a utopia of law and order and goodness but even sadier than that is the narrow minded solutions of our so called religious and political leaders who have left us with, either the church or the penitentiary. Hypocriticaly these godly leaders have not limited themselves in the same way and continue now to take away our basic human rights and rights to privacy so they can now live very well and in great luxury and in relative safety. Which is proves they do not believe in the very things they have force upon us. When injustices become the law of land resistance becomes our duty resist them Mr Bossie resist their criminal agents who justify their exisitence and sinister ideology.

You show him Mr Bossie u don't need no Dodge Charger, helicopter, surveillance camera or to tap his phone to stop him from robbing your store, just some basic brute strength and common sense all this foolishness that is going on here who will police they blame now? Wow, really sad when a man got to defend himself out here with only his bare hands.

”Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

When is the public going to stand up and let the powers to be know that we want to protect our selves. Do your research, investigate the legit citizens that apply and allow them to arm themselves. this way you know who have weapons, right now you know nothing and the crimminals are holding us hostage.

From the court cases they"the crimminals" are going free any way. so what have they to loose.  We have a lot our lives and our customers.

I'm pro-American on our gun stance and think the UK RCIP have got it wrong.  We are too close to Mexico and Miami to have the British way….sorry Comm Baines, it may work (?!?) in England, but I want these "Teeves" to think twice before entering my home.
