If the Police could predict robberies happening, am sure they would! But being that NO ONE can, maybe we should ALL do the right thing and be sensible about securing ourselves and our property.  Get a dog/s, leave on your lights outside etc. It is also up to us to be smart with our own protection. Cuz guranteed if the choice came for the police to save our life or their own, chances are they will save themself 1st. So get up off your behind and start securing your own affairs. THE POLICE ARE HUMAN TOO AND LAST I KNOW THEY STILL BLEED BLOOD!

I just wonder if rather than spending so much on a new fleet of suped-up police cars, money would not have been better invested in CCTV and placed around various parts of the Island, in particular where there are shopping centres, gas stations and places where the general public visit to buy things as these are where the low life thugs seem to target.  Its not rocket science.

Lemme guess: Suspects is 5 foot 8 inches tall, spray-on tan / dark complexion, slim build, with a bandana over face?

Didnt they have security in the complex? A bank is there right?

about 9 months ago, I wrote a blog suggesting that businesses that offer servicesto the public should consider installing CCTVs on the outside parameters of their business.

Another blogger responded to say that the cost of service would increase and that I should think before I open my mouth.

Well needless to say, that if some of these service providers had taken that suggestion and implemented it, maybe we could have captured a few of those armed robbers who inflict fear and threaten the lives of others, by now.  I think, in these times, they owe the public a duty of care when entering their premises..

I'm also wondering if the same blogger who responded last time would now care to comment again but this time, offering a solution, rather than to criticise me.

I am also a fan of this restaurant. That said, it is the only business open in that mall after regular business hours, located right in the bottom o0f the mall plus the entire mall and parking area are extremely poorly lighted. I t was only a matter of time.

I’m not that blogger (I’m actually a “commentor” instead – important to note in avoiding being sued in this jurisdiction), but I did want to weigh in on this.

For the price of a CCTV set you can buy at least two and maybe even three 40 calibre Glock 23’s, which are a perfect size for concealed carry and have really good stopping power. Granted you need a change in the law to do this legally, but let’s have this in the discussion mix as well. Nobody is going to rob a place that’s better armed than you are.

Shameless and wreckless thieves!! The only two places that give you so much food for $10.00 is the Red Bay Jerk Stand and China Village.

If this Island needs anything, it needs to give its citizens the ability to defend themselves. Baines needs to cease putting obstacles in the way of this. It is almost as though his goal is to protect his police from harm in the line of duty .However, concentrating on  the safety of his police is certainly not compatible with protecting his citizens All to often, the police to do appear at crime sites until the crime is safely over.

Could somebody please tell these robbers that the bobbies on the beat are here now! They need to stop this S#@! right away. Truly Cayman we are lost bad mann. So many warnings by former policemen yet nothing was done by the inept few in leadeship. Now we are paying the price literally to our own demise. Those hoping that our polictical nuisances would be able to pay their way out this terrible situation are not only stupid but delusionary and are need of some serious help.

This was just a matter of time.  Venezia Plaza needs more lights and some security presence which is lacking.

You've got armed robberies in broad daylight downtown! Telling businesses to have more security is just ignoring the real problem and placing blame in the wrong place.
