Small earth quake recorded south of Cayman

(CNS): Around 91 miles south of George Town, Grand Cayman some 6.2miles down the earth was moving around on Saturday night. According to the US Geological Survey a 4.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded at around 10:30pm in the Cayman region. The epicentre was located at 17.967°N, 81.442°W the USGS survey stated. The quake was 168 miles ENE of Swan Island and 233 miles west of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Meanwhile, as few felt the local quake a powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 struck eastern collapsed buildings and caused a number of deaths, in eastern Turkey.

    Never forget that the Cayman Islands are the outcroppings of an underwater volcanic mountain range, some 22,000 feet high. We are the top few feet of this mountain, and we should bear this in mind. Personally, I do not like earthquakes which in any way disturb our mountain.
