No civilian royal gongs for Cayman in New Year list

| 01/01/2012

(CNS): There were no MBEs or OBEs for Caymanians in the 2012 New Year’s list of royal honourees but the queen did recognize the RCIPS’ Detective Inspector Adeniyi Collins Oremule. The officer was awarded the Colonial Police Medal (for Meritorious Service) (CPM) in recognition of being an exceptional investigator with an outstanding commitment to helping and supporting victims and witnesses of crime. He is cited as having regularly demonstrated outstanding attributes as a public servant who is dedicated to protecting his community above and beyond the norm. Duncan Taylor, Cayman’s governor however did pick three Caymanians to be awarded the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour (Cert. Hon).

Philip Michael Jackson is awarded for services to training and mentoring Caymanians in the vocational field of auto mechanics, while Ella Kaye Lockwood was awarded for services to the banking industry and the community and Peter Charles Widmer for services to building and growth in the construction industry.

The one person that comes to mind that is so deserving of an award for her good quality of work and dedication at the hospital is miss BEULAH  HOWARD. I think that is her surname. She is from Bodden Town. I havent seen anything of her for a very long time and guess that she has retired but having spend alot of time there with my kids you always looked forward to her being on duty. Her expertise can only be because of her years working and studying in the good ole USA. I can never forget her kind and professionalism help at the hospital. Another very professional person that you can look up to in the Emmergrncy Department is our one and only Dr Teeling. What a hard working and skilled Doctor, just his kind and soft voice makes mone well. Thanks Dr Teeling. Whether rewarded or not by Government the Public hold you both in high esteem. May God Almighty bless you both.

It is so good to see "ordinary" citizens who modestly go about their business in dedicated service to their clients, receive this recognition.

Many congratulations to all the recipients who represent the best of our diverse Caymanian citizens.

Although I no longer reside in Cayman, I can remember Mr. Jackson and the quality of service he provided.  I put great trust in him repairing my cars and felt confident owning high end European cars in Cayman.

Having lived in Cayman from 1987 until 2004, there were not many European car owners on island or persons able to repair them to a high standard.

He is truly a pioneer in leading the way for automotive repair shops and those considering a career in the field of automotive mechanics.

    Congrats and well done Mike!
