Local resident dies after weekend dive trip

(CNS): A 68-year-old man from West Bay  died on Monday (23 January) officials have confirmed after he collapsed and lost consciousness shortly after diving. The local resident had just returned to a private boat which was making its way back to the Lobster Pot dock after the dive trip with friends, the police, said when the diver became ill at around 10.40a.m. When the boat arrived at the dock in George Town the unconscious man was then taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said Tuesday that an investigation into the man’s death has now been launched.

    This is such sad news.  RIP to an old friend and very special person.  Always there to help a friend (or stranger) in need and always happy in the prcess.  Condolences to his wife and family.   This Gent will be missed in so many ways.  Such a sudden loss but at least he was doing something he loved to the end.  You'll be missed. xx

    I happen to know this person very well and he and I have been friends for many years in fact we were neighbors in West Bay for several years He was active in the diving world but only as a hobby..My personal condolances go out to his wife and other family members and may the good Lord give her the strength to carry on after such a sudden passing.You will be missed by many of us in the professional dive industry for your services to us all.Rest in Peace my friend.
