As I read down the contributions tothis thread it became obvious to me that the contributors really didn't care about this shooting rather it was the location or the guards or something else.

Face the fact that people don't care about violent crime in Cayman, especially the politicians.

Wow-the extended hours are really cutting crime down…

What does that mean? Why is it ok to attract a bad crowd and then say it's nothing to do with me, it happened in the parking lot.

  3. Anonymous says:

I believe Club 7  was formally known as Peppers located by Grand Pavilion.

  4. Anonymous says:

Let's see if our joy & pride RCIP will solve this case or let another gun man walk free to shot other innocent people.

  5. Anonymous says:

I know lets close it down so those low lives can hang out were you do? What should happen is the Police need to be present or on patrol to serve and protect and maybe even search most of those card or people who are suspect. That will make them think twice riding around with a weapon and fight like men with fists.

    Shooting was “outside” the club
Wanding wont help there … Unless we wand everyone leaving the republic …

Let me guess… No one say anything and the video cameras didn't work…

Supposively also there was a stabbing at Club 7….by the way where is Club 7?  Was this Jet renamed Club 7….to many clubs to remember

      • Anonymous says:

I heard about the stabbing, but the way I heard it, it wasn't at the Jet or Club 7.

  9. A REALIST says:

That den of iniquity needs to be shut down. Previous stabbings, shootings and a murder in the parking lot. Name changed from Next Level to Club Octopus to Peppers to Club 7, yet same violent incidents. The condo owners across the road have protested this establishment yet for years that venue has been allowed to operate as a nightclub. Stunning!

Yet in that same time other establishments have had licences rejected. Great liquor licence board at work. The chairman of that board neds to join the other recent dinosaurs who have retired in government and do the same.

CNS Note: The current Jet night club next to Aqua Beach is the former Next Level. Club 7 is different it is located at Bay Harbour Centre further north on the West Bay Road.

    • Anonymous says:

Sorry CNS, but you've got to go farther back than that. In the 90s when the current Jet/Aqua Beach was the Golden Pagoda Retaurant, the Next Level Nightclub was where Club 7 currently is. When the most delicious Chinese food was no more they moved down West Bay Road and broke the restaurant into Aqua Beach and Next Level.

And don't forget thatthis location was also Taboo in between Next Level and Club Octopus and Allure in between Peppers and Club 7. I agree with the original poster – please just give up.

      • A REALIST says:

Lol. I totally forgot about Allure and Taboo. You're right. They should just give up. At some point you have to see the writing on the wall with a location.

    • correction says:

club 7 was once the origonal Next level club….you should know that CNS…….

    • A REALIST says:

Not to get into a pissing contest but the ORIGINAL Next Level was located there. It THEN moved next to Aqua Beach.

Anyone around in the 90s can verify this.

      • Anonymouse says:

So the management and security at the club told this individual it was ok to go outside and shoot someone after they closed the place a wha? Are you for REAL??

    • Red Solo Cup says:

Oh, wow, so it's the liquor license board's fault thatsome a*hole decides to fire a gun AFTER the club has closed. Where is police presence when these places are closing?? I sure as hell don't see them anywhere but, yet they come out like flies just to keep watch at the agricultural show to look at a pile of cow sh*t. Unbelievable. Boards and clubs don't kill people. Morons with guns do.

      • A REALIST says:

When a location, by whatever name, continuously attracts violent incidents including a past murder in its parking lot, gets to close for a couple months, rebrand and reopen with now its sixth name, in spite of the hard evidence of the types of crowd that location attracts and in spite of complaints from other businesses and residents in the area, it is VERY MUCH, their fault.

      • Anonymous says:

Clubs that attract a criminal element and can't keep them under control both inside and outside in the parking area should be closed. They are public nuisances.

    • Anonymous says:

Actually CNS, this was in fact the site of the ORIGINAL Next Level.

What about fines for the security company that is being paid to ensure the protection of the patrons???? For years the security companies have been overlooked while continuing to collect fine sums of cash to ensure patrons have a safe evening out. They are never held responsible and nothing changes when something like this happens so we constantly revisit this type of scenario. When is Cayman going to get serious about these types of crimes?

    • Anonymous says:

how many "innocent" persons have been hurt as a result of the lack of responsibility of the security companies, and by innocent I don't mean: not in jail because we can't properly prosecute them"

      • Anonymous says:

Blaming the Security Guards is ludacris! Some make only a couple bucks an hour….would you jump in fromt of a bullet for $4 an hour?  Empowering these guards with proper training, fair wages and hours and human decency might be the first step! Don't get me started about the need for minimum wage!

        • Anonymous says:

Payment of  minimum wage, which the LA has already agreed upon, would also be unlikely incentive to step in front of a bullet.

    • So says:

This is whats wrong with Cayman. Some Ass#### shoots 2 people outside a club and we blame the security guards? First of all blame the idiot with the gun and his parents for raising  a criminal not the security guard who is unarmed and would probably have been shot if he stepped in. We might as well dont even bother with guards if we are not going to give them guns. A lot of the guards are ex Jamaican military, Philippino Police etc with lots of experience, but when they apply to the Police for jobs they are rejected for having a proponsity for violence. Sounds to me we need a few of them on patrol. I bet every "bad man" in Cayman would start to worry when an Ex Jamaican soldier has his neck twisted in a GI Joe Kung Fu Grip.

      • Anonymous says:

That is why Jamaica is in the mess it is right now, corrupted ex-soldiers.  If there is one thing Cayman don't need is more corrupted Jamaican police officers.  If someone can't clean their own house how are they expected to clean anothers.   As for the Filipinos, there is enough crime in the Philipines so they don't need  to come from so far to combat crime in Cayman.  Cayman gets everything from the USA, why not seek to hire trained police officers from the USA.

this really isnt front page news anymore its the norm. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This place has been a nightly haven for low lifes for many years and there have been many criminal acts there including murder……..I agree with the poster who called to revoke the liquor license and close the place down….for good.  Isn't the owner also a defense lawyer for criminals?  How ironic.

    • Anonymous says:

but then the low-lifes will start going to the expat bars/clubs…..we don't ant that!

  13. Anonymous says:

They have the shooting victims, the firearm that was used, and the (likely) shooter in custody.

For the RCIPS, I’d say this will likely provide at least an 8.5% chance of a conviction happening, discounted however by a full 5% given that each of the firearm, the bullets, the victims, and the shooter will be “misplaced” by the RCIPS before trial, and further discounted by another 3% on account of the Prosecutor not noticing their absence until halfway into the trial.

Law and order in the Cayman Islands – this should be a TV show.

  14. Anonymous says:

Here we go again, watch out Cayman possibly more shootings on the way.

  15. Anonymous says:

Revoke the liquor license. Don't care what they change the name to, this place is an attraction for the shooter and stabbing types.

    • Anonymous says:

If they have the offender, make an example of him. Send him to prison for life, or if one of the shot men dies hang him. It's time a message was sent out to people who carry guns. I know the liberals will say "he comes from a broken home" or "he mixed with the wrong people", but come on, anyone who carries a firearm should know they will face a"REAL" punishment if they do so.

      • Anonymous says:

does this "REAL" punishment also extend to persons legally permitted to carry/own a firearm or just the illegal ones?

        • Anonymous says:

???????????? IDIOT!!. Of course it doesn't apply to people with the nesessary licence, unless they decide to go and rob or shoot an innocent person.

    • Anonymous says:

I prefer it stay open, so decent folk can stay away from it and the criminal element can go about the business of killing themselves where we don’t need to watch.

  16. Anonymous says:

and what else is new???? I thought these people are wanded???

  17. Anonymous says:

i gaurantee the people invlolved are caymanian or jamaican…..

    • anonymous says:

or Jamaicans Calling themselves "Cayamanian" now…

      • A REALIST says:

The person arrested is a born and bred Bodden Towner. So lets stop the nationality blame game. It happened in Cayman so its our collective problem.

        • Anonymous says:

As are the two people who were wounded.

        • Anonymous says:

It would be interesting to ascertain the origin of the individual.  He definitely is not a Bodden Towner, but as usual the district is a 'receiver of wrecks'.    Their are those, who have no fixed abode.
