Power returns after fuel problem cuts supply

| 22/03/2012

cuc buckets_0.jpg(CNS): Residents across Grand Cayman were without power for almost an hour on Wednesday morning when CUC faced what it said was a problem with fuel supply in an engine room.  A spokesperson for the local power company said that customers on Walkers Road, along the West Bay Road and towards the east in Bodden Town, Frank Sound Road and up to Morritts are without power for a period on Wednesday morning but crews worked to ensure it was restored before 11:00am. “The outage was the result of a problem with the fuel supply to one of the main engine rooms. CUC apologises for any inconvenience the outages may have caused,” the spokesperson added.

    WORST FUEL QUALITY IN CAYMAN?

I am told that we have some of the worst fuel in the region.

The fuel is so sub-par that it clogs up our engines and CUC's too.

Why are we paying premium prices for fuel at the gas station when the product we are being sold is sub par???

Can anyone shed any light on this matter?

Are the fuel distributors, buying cheap fuel and selling it at a premium?? I don't know.

Vehicle sold in Cayman from Europe are EU Spec 3 as our fuel doesn't meet EU Spec 5 quality. Is this right?

I think we deserve answers from fuel importers!!

For any gripes I have with CUC and costs, I have to admit that they are very reliable and outages are quite rare!

We constantly have power cuts on Frank Sound Road, wonder what the reason is for that and what they're gonna do about it…

Wonder if this problem was due to sediment in the fuel clogging prefilters? This is what happens when day tanks are not properly maintained.
