The 37-year-old man has now been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ganja and is expected to appear in court Tuesday. The gun was seized after police stopped a vehicle in North Sound Road at around 1.30am on Friday 6 July. As the car stopped one of the people inside ran off but he was chased on foot by the officers. He was then arrested a short distance away from the car and a firearm and ammunition were found on the suspect, a police spokesperson stated.

Two other men who were with the armed suspect were also following the incident but they have now been released on bail while enquiries continue, police said.
