jeremy holness july 2012.jpg(CNS): Updated 5pm — Officials from the RCIPS have now released a picture of the man who escaped from police custody while attending the hospital on Thursday lunchtime. Jeremy Claston Holness escaped from his police guard at around 12.30pm today while being treated at the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town. “Officers are currently searching for the man and an enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the escape will be conducted,” an RCIPS spokesperson stated. It was confirmed that the 30-year-old man was in police custody at the time of his escape after being arrested on Wednesday, 18 July, on suspicion of burglary. He is described as being 5’11” in height, weighing 185lbs with a light brown complexion, brown eyes.

Although the escaped man's head is shaven at present, his natural hair colour is black.

Holness is not considered a danger to the public but anyone who sees this man or knows of his present whereabouts is urged to contact their nearest police station. The RCIPS said that he was taken to the hospital in George Town after he complained of feeling unwell while in police custody.

So quick to criticize the police.  Arm them and get more results.  Night sticks are no weapon against guns and knives.  Just sayin!

I was in the hospital one day and there was a prisoner there with one guard.  He was sitting with his handcuffs on.  I couldn't belive what happened next.  This lady walks over to the guard and says "but he's such a sweet looking young man.  You shouldn't have handcuffs on him."  I on the other hand was scared half to death and watching them the whole time discretely as possible.  All I could think was how stupid can someone be.

What was the guard doing – Sleeping. And what has happened to the other case when the prisoner escaped from the guard with the assistance of a woman. Big news that just died a quiet death.

I don’t blame him. If I had the opportunity to escape given the lack of seriousness when it comes to everything in cayman I would take it. Half the prisoners that escape just go to see their family & girlfriend. I feel in no way threatened by this escape

Is it true that he left a note saying that if politician's didn't need to follow the rules he didn't think he needed to either?

He could be in Australia by now!

You mean it took 4.5hrs for RCIPS to releas a name and photo???

I don't think we send prisoners to Australia any more.  Maybe we should consider bringing it back.

This happens so often here – perhaps more than 1 guard should take the prisoner to the Hospital and both of them should be alert.  One of these days we'll see a prisoner taking a health care staff member hostage and perhaps with dire results!

Lets face it…..remember guards were watching the prisoners who one of them killed Sabrina…slack is to say the least

Who is the prisoner?? How are we suppose to assist the police with this information.

  12. CHECHE says:

What is the point of this article? To alarm people, when there is no name or description of the inmate? How do prisoners get lost anyhow? Getting a little tired of the incompetence over here!
