Supermodel’s busy life leaves no room for romance

| 20/02/2013

vibe-vixen-selita-ebanks1.jpg(CNS): Cayman’s supermodel Selita Ebanks is believed to have split with her TV personality boyfriend as a result of their busy careers. The New York Post gossip column and other entertainment media in the US are reporting that Ebanks, who celebrated her 30th birthday this past weekend, has parted ways with Terrence J. The couple are apparently having “scheduling conflicts”, not least because of Ebanks’ new career directions, including acting and singing. This weekend, the model was trailed by cameras for a new TV show. Ebanks and Terrence Jenkins, the former 106 & Park host, began dating in late 2011, but romance appears to be over as "Selita is just so busy", a source told the Post.

Jenkins recently scored a primetime gig as host of E! News after a long stint on BET's 106 & Park and relocated to the west coast. He's also been pursuing a career in acting and is a spokesman for Crown Royal Life.

She thinks of herself too highly even to talk to her own caymanian people,,,I met up with her  at California airport and I stop and said Selita how are you doing?   All she did was turn her head around like if though I was below her level to talk to.   Don't get me wrong I always had alot of respect for Selita, and I love that she represents our Country as a role model, but what i did not get is that once a little fame go to somebodys head they believe they are on top of the world and no one else exists.  God said and i quote….Do not look down on anyone that has less than you, instead reach out your hands and lift them up to walk beside you.   Selita, remember those who that are rich has nothing but money, and those who are poor has nothing but love.

    WHAT IS A TRUE CAYMANIAN????

I keep reading "I'm a true Caymanian" – what is a true Caymanian?

What qualifications or attributes do you need to become a true Caymanian?

Do you get special treatment if you are a "true Caymanian"?

    Just wondering.

    • Anonymous says:

Every crack and cranny you go in the Cayman Islands you hear "me a yardy"  well, if you can define yardy you can define a true Caymanian …..!!!!

    • Anonymous says:

Of course you get special treatment as a "true Caymanian" – you just have to look at all the people who have been rolled over or had their jobs pulled out from under them and given to a less qualified Caymanian to realise that there's a benefit. Smarten up.

After years of international exposure as a public figure, I honestly believe Selita is more able to be an elected official than 90% of the other candidates out there.

  4. cow itch says:

Yeah right it is him that has a busy life! The guy has it going on e entertainment, think like a man two etc. he dumped her, what a joke can’t believe this is news

  7. Anonymous says:

the bottom line it’s her life , breakups and makeups happen at all levels what’s the big news .

  8. Diamonds says:

Mere news?  There is a Wikipedia page on her.  She has become big in the fashion world and well known.   … http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selita_Ebanks

    • Anonymous says:

Just because she has a Wikipedia page doesn't mean anything. There's a Wikipedia page for literally everything out there.

  9. Anonymous says:

Her personal life is just that, her personal life.

    • Anonymous says:

Not exactly. She is a celebrity and that is why she is making public statements about it.

I'm too busy to read this article and even post a reply……..oh sh1t I just did……

  11. Anonymous says:

Money takes precedence over your love life. By the time she realizes this she may be too old to cut the mustard anymore. Anyway she will have enough money to spend many years thinking about what her love life could have been like.

Boy, what a nasty load of comments. I love to brag that Selita is from Cayman and has done so well. To see her as a Victoria's Secrets Angel is great advertising for Cayman. You wouldn't think twice about reading a story about a movie star or singer from somewhere else talking about their personal life. Don't read the story if you don't want to read it.

    • Anonymous says:

Advertising for who! Man/woman sit down please. When have you ever seen cayman Islands posted in a Victoria secret catalogue or written under selita name? She doing her own ting for her own self. People dont care because she doesnt care about cayman people. When she talks about home, she talks about how hard she had it.. as if shes the only one. Only thing this article advertising is that she is now single again, wha you say. .a new one each year.laaaawd gal..you worst that j-lo. Lol

      • Native. says:

Well according to Forbes, Ms. Ebanks ranked the twelfth highest paid supermodel for 2008, earning $2.7 million. If she is paid so high, and Victoria Secret made her wear a gown with real diamonds, she must be more than a island gal… and good looking too!  I am proud that she is from my home, Cayman. Too often you hear Trinadad, Jamaica, Puerto Rico,  Cuba and other Caribbean nations getting the spot light. Its good to support our own. Beauty may be in the eyes of few beholders, but trust me, with Selita, she is no ordinary one, many eyes are on her!  She is SUPERMODEL … do you know what that is?!  I rest my case.

  13. Anonymous says:

Selita you are the least of our worries right now. What you should be focused on is helping those less fortunate in Cayman. There are a lot of young Caymanians that you could come home and visit and meet with on a regular basis. Give them advise but then again you may not be good for that either. Typical young Caribbean hollywood celebrity! Go get your life together and do something positive for your people.

    • Anonymous says:

She is helping herself and good for her – why can't you?

    • Anonymous says:

Oh for goodness sake what claptrap! She’s got a career. She really does not HAVE to mentor others. If she does, good for her, and if she doesn’t, so be it. Either way, it’s none of your business.

This is just green-eyed envy dressed up as a bossy order to Ms Ebanks to help “her people”. No wonder she’s happier out of here.

    • Anonymous says:

Hater, Selita is not the government social service department.  Don't ask her to focus on helping the less fortunate in Cayman, ask the many that came here with one hand in front and one in the back and are now millionaire on the backs of Caymanians who will not contribute one red cent to any cause as a matter of fact they won't even employ Caymanians.  You are clearly out of you league and do not know anything, Selita visits regularly and gives freely and help many Caymanians but as a true Caymanian she does not look for publicity and prefer to do her good deeds in silence and without press and promp.  You are so full of envy, I would suggest to you that you go get your life together and do something positive for yourself and leave Selita along hater!

  14. Turtle's Head says:

It is the way Selita was staring lustily over at Ms. Caymanite Pink and Ms. Caymanite Pink was staring back.  Once that thought was stuck in my head, I have been unable to stand up from my desk for the last half hour.

  15. Dear Selita says:

While you are out jet setting, making tons of cash and living the life you dreamed of please pay these haters no damn mind because all the negative comments show how envious and bad mind people can be. Do your thing and live your dream and leave these small minded small town idiots in your rear-view.

PS. If you need a good man just call me, I dont mind being with an ambitious sucessfull lady.

  16. Suleiman the Magnificent says:

Fab, isn’t it, the way your pretend-Caymanian posters diss any other Caymanian who’s a success? And Suleiman loves these “where’s the real news?” “I’m too busy to read this!” “we want news on the missing people” protestations. Ooo, you serious-minded news-junkies! You imply that CNS should be far too noble to stoop to articles like this (why? It can publish what it likes: it’s free, for goodness sake!) and that somehow all articles should be of equal “importance”.

Well they’re not, praise be. This is just a little bit of gossip, that’s all. And you really don’t have to read it if you dont want to.

Suleiman’s suspicion is that you resent this type of article because it gives you nothing to rant incoherently about. If that’s so, keep ’em coming, CNS!

Suleiman has spoken. He’ll be back. And he’d like Selita’s email address now please. He finds her pleasing on the eye.

Why on Earth is this in the news?

    • Anonymous says:

Because lots of Caymanians are interested in her, you stuffy old git – probably more so than, say, Ezzard Miller. And anyway, who are you to say what is and isn’t news?

      • Anonymous says:

I'm not a "stuffy old git" as you suggest, but a 22 year old college student born and raised Caymanian. Just because she is Caymanian doesn't mean that her life should be front page news. I'm not deciding what is and isn't news you simple-minded moron, I'm simply asking why an article surrounding this woman's love-life, or lack thereof, is so important to be news when we most certainly have other more pressing matters that need addressing.

Educate yourself on matters that matter, not ones that don't.

        • Anonymous says:

So are you a jealous girl or playing for the other team?

        • Anonymous says:

Variety is the spice of life. And if you don't like it you don't have to read it. But you don't have the right to choose what I or others read in the press. That is called censorship, and generally comes from dicatorships…Mac tried to do a mild form of that to CNS and failed.

The girl is one of Caymans very few success stories, and therefore is public interest here. When the other news here is so damn depressing, corruption, corruption, thieving, mugging and corruption, it is great to hear something positive about a lady from here who has "made it".

Generally I would not follow such a story particularly as we get such rubbishy US TV "reality" here all the time with such nothings and totally not realistic Kardashians, Snooky and so on, so this in comparison is a pleasure to read.

        • Anonymous says:

So young and yet already so pompous. Time you stood for the LA.

Actually, reread your last post and you’ll find that you ARE trying to dictate what is and isn’t news.

Me, I’m bored with the “matters that matter” (you clever little wordsmith! It’s that college education, isn’t it?).

Ms Ebanks’s love-life, or lack of it, is acquiring an immediacy of its own. We need to know more. CNS, daily updates please.

          • Anonymous says:

If being 'pompous' is described as being relatively discriminatory in terms of what makes front page news on our island, then so be it, call me what you wish. This story should simply not have been given the spotlight it was awarded; an article about Selita's love life is simply not news. By all means, write an article about her achievements, what she has been doing lately in terms of employment, anything productive she has been contributing to the islands and I will welcome it. Just because she is a Caymanian who has generated a fair amount of fame for herself and is successful does not mean that every detail of her life should be considered news. I don't want to read about her love life much in the same way I'm not interested in McKeeva Bush's or Alden McLaughlin or Dart's love life either. No matter how you cut it, this is tabloid material – not news.

You're welcome to it though, you small minded cretin.

          • Anonymous says:

Evidently you have nothing else going on in your life. Your comments make you sound ignorant and arrogant.

        • Anonymous says:

Couldn't agree with you more! Like seriously, who cares about her love life, or like you said, lack thereof!

    • Anonymous says:

Why was space wasted all over our media on Bolt? She Caymanian and we are proud of her. If it was news on how she messed up there would not be space from you bunch of haters to make your mean comments.

      • Anonymous says:

Unlike selita..bolt lives and gives back to his community in Jamaica. He is constantly visiting schools, athletes and children hospitals.. what has your selita done for your community lately? People not being mean.. just truthful. I for one dont care about her money or fame.. times too hard for that.

        • Anonymous says:

Selita is Caymanian, Bolt is Jamaican, chalk and cheese…. there is no relevance let Selita do her thing and Bolt his.  Selita represents Cayman and Real Caymanians appreciate her.  One look at her and you see Caymanian of yester year beautiful, simply beautiful and easy on the eyes the envy of the Caribbean and the world.  Bolt is typical Jamaican so don't dare to compare.

          • Anonymous says:

Typical Jamaican in what way? That he's wildly successful, made a name for himself, has qualifiable and quantifiable achievements? Is obviously a hard worker? Is aiming to better himself and contributes positively to his country? If those are the hallmarks of a "typical Jamaican" as you say, then today, I'd rather be Jamaican than Caymanian.

      • Anonymous says:

Here's an idea…ask 100 ppl from around the world who is Usain Bolt and then ask them who is Selita Ebanks and let me know who knows who?!? Selita doesn't even acknowledge Cayman unless she speaks of how bad she had it growing up here. In fact, she identifies herself as a "New Yorker" not a Caymanian so you idiots that worship her can go ahead believing Selita thinks she's one of you. LMAO! BTW, what ever happened to the article about her fight in a club a while ago with some chick over Terrence J?

        • Anonymous says:

I sure don't care about Usain Bolt, Selita Ebanks is much easier on the eye and  better arm candy than Usain will ever be.  Selita acknowledges Cayman and if she wants to identify herself as a New Yorker that is her right.  I believe she was born there or lived there most of her life.  Selita know that she is Caymanian her mama is Caymanian, so is here grandma and grandpa, aunts, uncles and cousins, can't get it anymore Caymanian than that.  Selita has DNA to terra firma unlike so many like you poster 19:24 that is so quick to diss and write bad about her because you are jealouse of her, get a life hater.

          • Anonymous says:

I'm sure both Usain and Selita couldn't care less about you turd!

      • Anonymous says:

Nothing about that comment was mean. Bolt was in the news because he is an Olympic medalist with multiple medals and is the fastest man in the world. Hardly comparable to a supermodel. The fact that the article is on Selita is not the source of contention – it is the fact that the article is on Selita's love life. If the article was about her achievements, successes and future plans then there wouldn't have been complaints. This is a story that belongs in a tabloid, not a reputable news service.

All you hyprocrits, and jealous haters,CNS is simply following the life of a young beautiful Caymanian woman who has made her mark on the world platform. Thank you CNS. Cayman is her country and writing about her life in Cayman News media, the same that glorified Bolt a non-Caymanian and  printed all the great comments about him. I only used him as an example as it was not that very long ago. There are  too many of you who would rather see her married to some Caymanian loser/foreign user with a few children all under the age of 5 years, a charge of government, a drug user walking the streets. Then the serpents would pass by shaking their heads saying how such a beautiful girl ruined her life but that is how they feel good about themselves. I can assure you that those same people have not done anything with theirlives and no one in their family have or has the ability to do so. Selita you have done great for yourself. Some Caymanians are proud of you and you don't have any obligations to give back to this country afterall the Caymanians who love and elevate you would not benefit from your kindness. It would be the same haters who put you down and voice that it is a waste of space to write about you. Cayman nor Caymanians did nothing for you and you don't owe them a dam thing.
