One inmate recaptured

| 20/08/2013

(CNS): After almost six days on the run, the police have captured one of the three inmates who escaped from HMP Northward last Wednesday night. Chadwick Dale, a 22-year-old Jamaican national, was located and arrested in North Side Tuesday lunchtime following a targeted intelligence-led operation and was taken back into custody by officers. Dale, who was recently sentenced to six years imprisonment following a violent robbery, now faces further charges and even more time behind bars as a result of the jail break. Meanwhile, his fellow inmates, 44-year-old Steve Manderson and his son, Marcus, remain at large and the police search continues for the men who police believe could still be in the area.

Police said a high visibility police presence will remain in the area as the search continues. Residents in the North Side area should remain vigilant and are asked to report any suspicious activity immediately to 911.

Handed himself in! yeah right!….according to my police buddies they spent many nights being bitten by mosquitos submerse in swampy water and bushes until he was caught. speak what you know and stop giving this damn idiot credit for causing so much drain on police resources when they could be chasing after the damn gangs or gun toting idiots..

  2. Anonymous says:

The police need to check the watering ho;es and caves in the district you would be surprised what is in northside.

Hell yeah there's one called the barn and one called over the edge. Only problem is they don't do drugs.

  3. CYM says:

You recall I said that the first thought that came to my mind when I heard about this is that  someone must be arranging for them to depart the islands by boat. And if so, it would be good to know that they are living overseas. That would mean social services should have more hot meals available for people who need them. My sincerest apologies for raising the high expectations. There will only be two hot meals available.

  4. SSM345 says:

The problem with Steve is that with the majority of his previous escapes he handed himself back in as opposed to being caught so they could not prove who helped him….

  5. Anonymous says:

This is a bit off the subject, but 10 years for the firearm possession and 6 months for the most heinous of all crimes ever  – sexual abuse of a child, let alone  own daughter. What this society values and enforcing laws are? Can we call ourselves HUMAN?

  6. Anonymous says:

These inmates got help from the outside. How did he get to North Side? When they are caught the people who help them should join them in Northward. Without outside help these guys couldn't elude the police for long.

The other 2 when caught should be sent off island.

    • Anonymous says:

      The other two are Caymanian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Anonymous says:

Someone told me they saw Steve Mandersonand his Junior catching the bus at the stop in Northward but he didn't say where he was headed.

    • Cayman Mama says:

The other 2 are Caymanians – so there is nowhere "off island" to send them!

      • Anonymous says:

Of course there is. We have had Caymanians prisoners go to the UK.

    • Anonymous says:

06.59- hell with that much ganja in their systems they could fly anywhere and not even the police helicopter will pick them up…

    • Anonymous says:

What a suggestion? Why do you think that they should be sent to another mans Country while we keep the other foriegn prisoners in our prison?

  7. Big Whopper says:

He is probably happy to be caught after being pelted by rain, no food and eaten alive by the rat bats…I mean Mosquitos in NS…

    • Anonymous says:

I never saw the man in my life ,just since being in prison by pictures. However I know some of his familys, and I sympathize with his mother and others. I would not make such remarks if I were you as none of us know what situation our kids could find themselves in . Poverty creates alot of sadness at times. I just pray that if Steve is innocent that one day the mighty man above will set him free just like he did for Jibba.

      • Big Whopper says:

If my child broke the law and do what this scum did…I would be the first to make sure he pays for what he/she did. That mentality is probally the reason he where he is now, stop using poverty as an excsue to commit heartless crime…you just sound stupid…

        • Anonymous says:

I am far more intelligent than you, and while I do have a big heart I do not condone wrong. However listening to thos in prison who was in cell across from where it happened it sounds like Steve is innocent. I have an opinion just like you too BO BO. Some of the writers to CNS seems to have more hate and murdersome ways than Steve. Just hope that the truth will be revealed before Steve departs this world.

          • Big Whopper says:

Mr./Mrs. Smarty pants….this post was in reference to the one that was caught..Not Steve…as for Steve..they should make him a expert consultant…if he has broken out 5 times I say he deserves to be free…

  8. Anonymous says:

Now give him hi-vis cloting, some shackles and a ball and chain for the rest of his time in jail.  Pour decourager les autres.

    • Anonymous says:

03:21 Would you or your son like to be locked away for life when you are innocent. Put your money where your mouth is and lets try to find out if he is innocent as he and other inmates and the Public claims. Steve should have heldout until the new Governor arrives as we understand that she is a very intelligent woman.

    • Anonymous says:

03:21 It would be a good idea for you to give advise for the prisoners in your Country……

      • Anonymous says:

I like the fact that the use of a foreign phrase, albeit one used commonly in English means you get the "go back to your own country" routine.

  9. MEM says:

I am wondering if officers have checked all abandoned homes, or areas where only construction is taking place. I feel that these searches should not only be taking place during the day, but in particular troops should be out checking abandoned areas all night long!

I was shocked to hear they caught the Jamaican. I thought for sure he'd be the one that got away. The sensi in Jam is said to be one of, if not the best in the world so I'd imagine he's eager to get home.

      • SSM345 says:

My bet is he was waiting for a boat to come and get him but they got side tracked with mudslides at RP or they actually forgot, from all they herb they consumed, why they were headed to Cayman in the first place……which in turn allowed the Iron Ching-Ching to find him in the bushes.

If a canoe turns up in Cayman waters in the next few days, we know why.

      • Anonymous says:

Excellent news that they caught the violent Jamaican…how do such scum get here anyway…?

        • Anonymous says:

yea … good question…how did he get here ? who hired him ?  did he have previous conviction ? clean police record?  i dont think so !!!!!!!!!!

        • Anonymous says:

How about, the two remaining Caymanian prisoners are at large and what kind of society tries to excuse the failure of their own community by blaming others.

You must be so proud to know that two generations of a Caymanian family are locked away for crimes against their own people.

No wonder you feel the need to blame immigration, you've failed to control your own so go to default and blame others. Same old Cayman story.

      • Anonymous says:

Immigration should stop letting in those criminals.

        • Anonymous says:

Yes, they should have stopped all those immigrants that have settled on Cayman since the 1600's and checked their criminal records. Just where do you think you people come from?

Two of them are home grown talent with the expected IQ and genetic mix that enables stupid comment and the thought process that concludes that immigrants are the cause of all crime on Cayman.

  10. Kadafe says:

Good job guys! Six days should amount to at least 6 years additional to his sentence! Then they will think first before acting! 1 year pay day while fleeing custody.

    • Anonymous says:

Good idea Kadafe, now you and me will have the privilege of feeding, clothing and entertaining a criminal who shouldn't even BE in Cayman for another six years.

  11. William Wallace says:

One down, two more to go! I will feel a lot safer when they are all caught. This shouldn't have happened in the first place considering we have recruited the best of the best in prison directors!

I really cannot help wondering how many tens of thousands of dollars worth of fuel and payroll is being totally wasted joy riding around in our multi million dollar helicopter looking for these guys. Is it remotely concievable that these guys would be smart enough to break out of jail and then stupid enough to let themselves be spotted by a helicopter that can be heard coming from miles away? Lord help us.

    • Anonymous says:

Are you stupid enough to think that they are only in the helicopter looking out the windows for these guys? They have inferred equipment that can spot them hiding in the bushes since you didn't know. Now go help them look instead of being on here writing $hit that you know nothing about!!!!

      • Anonymous says:

Ok, lets see if we can get this straight, we spend two million dollars feeding, clothing, sheltering and entertaining these 'worthless' members of our society for the past twenty years, we spend a couple of hundred thousand in searches for them every couple of years or so including 'inferred' equipped helicopters that stand a snowball's chance in hell of actually spotting them so we can put them back in jail and spend another two million on them over the next fifteen years and another couple of hundred thousand every couple of years searching for them over for the next fifteen years? I say we pay for whoever's boat they steal, or buy them a f***ing boat for that matter so they can be on their merry way. Personally I'd prefer we spend those millions and millions of dollars on education our children to give them a better chance of staying out of jail and becoming an eternal burden on those of us that insist on writing inferred $hit on CNS.

So what you suggesting? Scrap the search? Scrap the police? Degenerate to total lawlessness like it was after Ivan until Mr Haines got it sorted?

Ever heard of FLIR, (forward looking infra red) cameras, stupid. They detect infra red signatures, ie: body heat, which would stand out amongst the bush. Bet you wouldn't be spouting such garbage if it were one of your family members who had been killed or injured, or for that matter if they had gone missing without trace.

Before Cayman can be taken seriously as a self governing country it has to learn to take responsibility for its security and the safety of its population and guests. That takes expensive assets, so pay up and shut up.

      • Anonymous says:

You actually seem to spell a little better than that other loser down below. Congratulations. I would assume your precious flirs can tell the difference between a rabbit’s body heat and a humans?

      • Anonymous says:

      • Anonymous says:

        If you say so looney.

      • Anonymous says:

ever try using FLIR in 100 degree heat and 100% humidity?   Everything looks White it just doesn't work.

        • Anonymous says:

No, but I've used it in Afghanistan and Iraq, is that hot enough for you, idiot?

          • Anonymous says:

So why the hell don't you geniuses shut up and go catch the escapees?

        • Anonymous says:

          Really, explain this then genius:

Myth:  FLIR technology is useless in warm climates. When everything is hot it can’t see anything!

Thermal night vision is based around the idea that different things emit different amounts of radiation. So its true that when things are the same temperature they will appear as the same tone. I’ve interview soldiers who’ve returned from using FLIR in Afghanistan, and sure enough there are times of day when the ground is the same temperature as body heat. In those conditions, FLIR can be tricky, but that is only for fifteen minutes a day in a hostile environment. You can still use FLIR units in warm locales by changing your pallets to change how the camera displays existing temperature difference. Choosing white-hot or black-hot can help differentiate warm and cool objects, or the instalert setting which will highlight the hottest objects in the scene. There are three levels of instalert, where you might choose the most sensitive for a cool environment and the least sensitive for a warm one.

          • Anonymous says:

This is pure and simple nonsense, no matter WHO said it. It is far fetched indeed to suggest that 'the ground' is the same temperature as body heat for only fifteen minutes a day, and this does not at all account for thousands of other objects either on or under or above the ground that can and do reach that and much hotter temperatures all day long.

07:52, Catching Steve. Someone who has escaped custody on 6 seperate occasions while incarcerated is rather slippery, as opposed to a Jamaican sitting in a bush, don't you think?

        • Anonymous says:

so the jamaican is sticky(as opposed to slippery). ooooohhh, okay, now I see.

But Stevemust a been a little sticky when they caught him for his crime in the first place.
