Port gets OK from Cabinet
(CNS): The tourism minister has revealed that his government colleagues have backed plans to move ahead with the development of two berthing piers in George Town to accommodate up to four cruise ships. The ministers reportedly approved the Outline Business Case (OBC) for the project in their Cabinet meeting yesterday and the document will be released for public engagement. Government has set a public meeting regarding the plans for the cruise project for Tuesday night at the Mary Miller Hall, when it will review the Outline Business Case, inform the public of the overall status of the project, and confirm the proposed procurement process, which will soon get underway. Well I hope they are not just yanking us around again. I have heard this same song and dance for more than a decade. I voted for change. I voted for integrity. Let’s hope they deliver. One cannot hobble a major pillar of the economy without serious adverse consequences. PPM and (sane) independants please get off your backsides, and do something. This isn’t a joke. This isn’t an f-ing free lunch. This isn’t rocket science. Any first year econ major can see that the continued delays on building the berthing dock adversely impact our country as a whole, and constrict or economy even more than the foolish fee hikes of the previous administration. Do your job, and do it now. We need to put our people back to work. No more excuses, action please!
I just cannot wait to see a business case for 2 mega piers in GT WITHOUT massive government borrowing or RETAIL SHOPPING……cant wait.
The members of FCCA, and local merchants better be financing the whole show privately. No CIG public funds can be used for this as there are none!
