Cops net three drunks behind the wheel
(CNS): Five police road blocks across Grand Cayman on Fridaynight and Saturday morning saw three people arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. As part of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service’s efforts to crack down on crime and traffic violations those three drivers were arrested and numerous other people were issued tickets for various traffic infractions as police stopped drivers at the various road block locations. As the Stay Alive festive safety campaign continues a police spokesperson said the RCIPS is determined to reduce road fatalities and serious accidents by targeting bad driving.
“It is obvious that there are persons out there that blatantly have no regard for the laws of the Cayman Islands. As such, we the RCIPS, encourage the public to report any crime or traffic violation they observe. We can't be everywhere, so we rely on you the public to be our eyes and ears,” the spokesperson added.

Three people trying to get behind the wheel of one car is a sure sign that they are drunk.
Please start naming these drunk drivers once they are charged so society can look at them in shame. That's usually more punishment than the fine.
I've reported apparent drunk driving several times….usually I've been treated by the Police as if I'm bothering them when I've made such reports.
An outstanding memory is when I was told by a Police Officer "what do you want us to do? – we can't be everywhere!"
I would have expected a thank you, we'll get right on it!
The other excuse when you phone in to report drunken behaviour and fights is, "We're too busy to deal with it." Normally that one comes out after midnight and in reality means they know about it but don't want to get involved.
Put the fact that you reported this and the response you received in writing, noting the driver's number plate. The point out that if the river causes an accident you will be providing the details of the report and the officers involved to the victims of any accident for a possible lawsuit. This tends to get them moving a bit.
The day I no longer see cars on roundabouts hogging the outside lane without turning or indicating, and chopping off everyone on the inside lane, all the while upsetting drivers entering the roundabout, is the day I'll know change has taken root. These lunatics think it's okay to take the outside lane going into the roundabout (when turning right), and then try to race past you on the outside, not understanding the inside lane has the priority exiting.
One can go around the outside lane to go straight ahead and only need to indicate on exiting.
I drove behind a dumptruck without a net and debris was flying out of it and I stopped the police car behind me and explained the situation.
They didn't care, let it go and I felt like a fool.
Can't upset the families….
Only three, great job… Of course, they had the Rd blocks at 1130 when everyone was still in the bars drinking are you kidding me. Whilst being driven home by our dd we went through one of these Rd blocks, the office just waved us by, didn’t even speak to us nothing, how would have known we had a dd or if we were drunk. All I can say about the RCIPS is ‘IDIOTS’!!!
Some RCIPS officers are the worst perpetrators out there – a bunch of alcoholics "upholding" the law.
Can't be everywhere? How many cops now on our force? Could probably put at least 2 on every major street corner. Get out from behind your desks and out of your fancy cruisers and engage god damn it! You just might earn some public respect while you're at it.

Memo to RCIPS – You need to try harder!
I’ m against drunk driving but, I wonder if this Stay Alive Campaign applies to members of the RCIPS also? Recently, I have observed many of them leaving functions highly intoxicated and drive away. Interesting to see how they are handled when they reach one of these road blocks.
True, I've seen a very senior officer (now retired) leaving an annual awards function after what is best described as a heavy session and driving home
Most likely along the lines of…. Hey what's up man? Had a good time down de awa? Oh yeah? U see who an who wit who ya say? Ok den. Tomorrow man lata! Gowan home now! Lol
Because this only happens among Caymanians, right?
