Misick claims political persecution by British

| 12/05/2014

(CNS): The former premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Michael Misick, has been speaking out about his legal troubles and accused the British of seeking a conviction against him at all costs for political reasons. Speaking to the local television news network SunTV, he said that he had fled to Brazil to seek political asylum because he believed the UK investigators were more interested in political persecution against him than in any genuine investigation. He accused them of going to great lengths, changing the laws to make their chances of getting convictions greater. He also accused the UK’s interim government of putting the islands' economy in a worse situation than when he left office, wiping out gains that he claimed had been made.

He expressed his concerns about how many British people were in places of high office and had also taken over the local businesses, pushing local people out of the commercial environment. He said there had been a systematic destruction of the local middle class by the UK.

Misick is facing a number of corruption charges relating to a massive and costly investigation that has been undertaken by the UK after the elected local government was suspended and British rule re-imposed in the territory. An enquiry uncovered what it said was systemic and serious corruption throughout the public and private sectors.

But I hear that the TCI prison is much more comfortable than the one in Brazil – so what is he whining about now?

  2. Anonymous says:

Seems like he is setting the stage for a independent TCI, these are indeed interesting times. Maybe there will be closer affiliations with France as Misick once said that it was his goal to make TCI the Monte Carlo of the Caribbean, maybe that is why he married a Hollywood actress.

    • anonymous says:

If he goes independent it would mean alliances / deals with other countries for protection and economic stability. Independence could be a good thing for TCI

    This sounds familiar!. Yea right!

Haven't we heard this same sour tune before?

I am shocked.  I thought for sure he was going to confess.

MISICK THEY WANT TO DO THE SAME TO CAYMAN

This is the traits of the UK conquer and divide.

    • bradley says:

agreed.  first they come along with the corruption/crime red herring, then cctv camaras everywhere, then when its time to usurp our authority here it becomes easy to do so in her majesty's name.

    Does all that sound familiar.

"Michael Misick is my good and personal friend" – William McKeeva Bush, MLA and former Premier of the Cayman Islands.

CNS: Someone has used the abuse button with the comment, "This poster is signing as McKeeva Bush. This is libelous CNS you should remove this."

The poster above is clearly not signing as McKeeva Bush. He/she signed as Anonymous. The original comment is very obviously a quote attributed to McKeeva Bush. The clue would be in the quotation marks.

  8. Whodatis says:

    Misick, I reiterate what I told you the last time;

During your time in office you should have been wiser and followed the example of the British Prime Minister at the time, Mr. Tony "Now Chairman of Iraq-Based Korean Oil Company" Blair.

    • Create a "dossier of evidence" out of thin air
    • Lie to the people of your country
    • Deploy thousands of innocent and well-intentioned British military personnel, sending thousands to their deaths
    • Break every relevant international treaty
    • Illegally invade a sovereign country on saidlies
    • Become one of the slimiest political characters of modern times

Had you done the above you would have not found yourself in this position. Instead you would have been sitting pretty collecting oil cheques, traversing the world giving over-priced "speeches", playing tennis with the celebs in the Caymans, buying up property all over the UK, perhaps even now bullying a political career for your child in Bootle, UK!

Oh, you could have even stabbed your filthy-rich, media tycoon "friend" in the back by smashing his Mrs. in his OWN HOME!!

Anyway, better luck next time son.

SunTV probably cut out certain things he said. And the timing?  Why wasn't he given an interview a year ago when this was all fresh in everybody's mind?
