Former governor has ‘meet and greet’ with premier

| 13/08/2014

(CNS): Former Governor John Owen is visiting the Cayman Islands, according to the office of the premier. Although no details were given about the visit or any clues as to whether this is a formal visit or a vacation, he apparently visited Premier Alden McLaughlin on the afternoon of Tuesday 12 August "for a meet and greet". Owen served as governor from 16 October 1995 until his retirement on 5 May 1999, after which he continued to pursue a variety of business, civic and charitable concerns. His distinguished career in business and in public service led to the award of an MBE in 1979.

weFor all those who believe that there is something sinister about the former governor's visit.  It is not ex governor visit all the time.  We need to stop stressing the little things and get our financial house in order before things come crashing down around us and leave us unprepared and out in the cold.  As a people we need to start researching what is happening on the financial front.  We are a financial center we must start to make preparations in removing us from the High Risk Country list from the FCA.  We need to find out what is happening in the global financial markets that wouls make so many Billionaires start to dump their stocks in the USA markets, being a financial center we should be encouring some of those investors to move their business to Enterprise City.

Last time i looked, Mr Milburn the poster you are responding to, was actually born in the UK, Cornwall if I recall. So that blows your foolish response right out of the water. And learn to write in a way that does not make you out to be a backward retard.

I am absolutely convinced that if Jesus returned to Cayman, did a tonne of good and the story was carried on CNS, at least 50% of those blogging would criticse Jesus!

Many bloggers see the worse possibe and darkest world in even the most innocent of situations.

That is exactly what we have going-on here with this article: bloggers are making evil out of an innocent visit.

What I read by  bloggers to this story makes me want to give-up on the world, it is scary how some think.

Businessman…?.. He once worked for his wife's father, other than that he's a civil servant and nothing more.

And after a " distinguished " career he got an MBE….which is what you get for having your picture taken outside Miss Lassie's house.

Just hold on there….Taylor gave an MBE to a guy for doing just that.

Oh dear- all the conspiracy theorists out in force-did anyone catch the bit where it said he retired in 1999? To pursue business and charitable interests? Assuming he retired at 60 then he would be 75 now and I am sure if he is still working his business and charitable interests are much more fun than getting embroiled in Cayman sh*t.

Maybe he was just passing through on a cruise ship and decided to pop in and pay his respects?? People need to stop seeing ghosts in every corner..

What's the big secret? Why is everything with the PPM administration so secretive all the time.

Let the people know what your agenda is!

Oh dear!  Maybe he is on vacation and dropped in to say hello.  That is what past Governors do!!

      • Anonymous says:

@10:00 I dare you to re-read your silly comment and see for yourself how idiotic you really are. If you are on vacation….LMAO …and you were a previous Governor of these islands, given the current state of affairs in our Country, do you feel that you would just stop by, pop-in for a few laughs? This place is ridiculously expensive, for accomodations, food, and liquor too (among other things).

PLEASE, try talking to some other fool, they might just buy your 2cent line.

        • anon says:

and he could not have made any friends here when in office that he might be coming to visit now.

Our new UK representative I bet.

    • Anonymous says:

Well he would be light years better than the three marl road candidates that one hears about.

Please run the Cayman Islands Office in London for us Sir. Former Governor Tom Russell was fantastic in this job and would certainly know how to treat people.
