Robbery at WB booze shop

| 06/09/2014

(CNS): A masked armed man escaped with an unknown sum of cash on Friday night after a robbery at a West Bay liquor store. Police said the cashier at Joe Ena's Liquor Store on West Church Street was held up at gun point at 9:51pm last night by an armed man who was described as being about 5'8" to 5'9", dressed in full black, wearing a mask, speaking with a Caymanian accent. The suspect made his escape on foot from the premises with the cash but police were unable to say in which direction he fled. Police also suspect that the robber was assisted by a second person who remained outside the store in a white top.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

Anyone who was in the area at the relevant time and saw or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact the West Bay Police Station at 949-3999, the RCIPS tip line on 949-7777 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS)

The real robbery at the booze shop is how much they charge me for a bottle of whiskey.

Why are we not allow to make commens on the headlines which states that a non national who had a company here was convicted in the USA for money laudering yet we are able to comment on everything else? These are the people who give the Cayman Islands a bad name, yet when our own people are charged with similar offense it makes Cayman and International news.  I hope that Cayman 27 will show it tonight and I have no faith that the daily newspaper will even print it.

CNS: You can comment on CNS Business.

Road blocks on all roads out of West Bay should be a priority to protect the rest of Grand Cayman.

There are lots of robbers in Cayman not always the kind that stick you up but the kind that borrow your money then refuse to repay.  The government need to give people swift justice from these kind of criminals as they know that they owe you money and they refuse to pay.  These kind of people deserve to be taken to court and made to repay the victims three time the amount that they borrow or if not they should end up having to sell their possession to repay people that they borrow from and refuse to repay.

Maybe there should be a separate CNS section for crimes in West Bay, so that the rest of the site is not always clogged up with these reports.

What is happening people, why are Caymanian doing all these robberies? I hope this is brought under control very fast and someone will try to find out the root cause of all this mayhem. I hear a lot of people say it is a result of the lack of job.

I am a Caymanian and lives in West Bay, these thieves need to get off their lazy butts and get a job. So sick … If anyone knows anything call crime stoppers!!!!!! Please!!!!!

There is a man who works and borrowed money from a friend of mine refuses to repay and when my friend asks for the money the thief calls the police.  This is the kind of theft that the police needs to deal with because when people are angry they can do things that they later regret.
