Violence on Shedden Road
(CNS) Updated: Police have now charged a man with wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with one of two arrests made early Saturday morning following two violent incidents on Shedden Road in George Town. The 31-year-old George Town man was arrested for stabbing a 47-year-old man in the chest and he appeared before magistrates on Sunday after he was charged. Meanwhile, a 27-year-old George Town man was arrested for shooting at a car along Shedden Road in the same area. Although the incidents occurred within less than 20 minutes of each other, police said they do not believe the incidents were linked.
A spokesperson for the RCIPS said the gun in the second incident was fired at around 3:12am in the vicinity of Jacques Scott. A Ford Edge SUV was damaged but no one was physically injured and the 27-year-old remains in police custody.
The man who was stabbed received a serious wound to his chest during the first incident, which happened in the same area on Shedden Road at about 3:31 this morning, police said. He was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town, where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition. The 31-year-old man arrested for wounding is also in police custody.
Anyone who has information about either incident or was in the area at the time of the stabbing or the shooting is asked to contact the George Town CID at 949-4222, Detective Inspector Joseph Wright at 949-7710 of the Serious Crime Task Force or Crime Stoppers on 800 8477(TIPS).

Do you think we should involve the police in this??
I love threads that descend into Jamaicans who have been in Cayman for a while, aka "Caymanians", say horrible things about Jamaicans who have not been around for so long.
To Saturday Dec 13,2014 (22:11) are you referring to the natives of Iraq? Your descrption of reversing grants to the most corrupt and murderous country on earth is in Iraq where people are loosing their heads. Please stop the hating and bad mind and find away to help your home grown gangs get educated and employed.
If that does not work just warehouse them…away from me.
The present situation is dire. The truth, which apparently a number of Caymanians refuse to acknowledge is that it is their own who make up the majority of criminals in these islands and not Jamaicans and other "expats" who in the main are hard working decent people.
It's time to take the blinkers off and acknowledge who the nasty little bastards are and nail them. I don't support a vigilante society as that would lead to the wrong people getting hurt but it is tempting to tool up and take down the scum. A lot of people know exactly who these people are and which rock they hide under. In an ideal world it would be nice to pay them a visit and destroy their pathetic lives and take away their protection. Make them live in fear and make them live on the edge as they seem to enjoy dishig it out to the law abiding people of these islands.
If one or mre of these scum bags come onto my property I would have no compunction about using lethal force to stop them. They make the choice to do bad so let them reap the whirlwind if they want to start the battle. Enough is enough!

Isnt this what we have a police force for? one has to ask, why arent these police cleaning up these areas?
Something is wrong here!
Sorry, if you check those 'Caymanians' I can guarantee you my dear that 99.9% are not native Caymanian but either of mixed nationality, you know Caymanian and Jamaican or maybe Honduran OR all Jamaican national. Check that out, no blinders here.
They are the 'new generation' you know, the group UDP keeps promoting….
Yeah, because no one is really a true Caymanian. You all came from somewhere. Your anscestors didn't magically sprout out of the rocks here. True caymanians are the Blue Iguanas , turtles, and Parrots.
What is "mixed nationality"? Are you saying that my children who were born in Cayman of a Caymanian father and a fully naturalised Caymanian mother of Jamaican origin are not Caymanians? If you are then you are being ridiculous.
There is no need to ever go near Shedden Road. Certainly not at 3am. People who take unnecessary risks can't complain when bad things happen.
Where is Sheddon Rd.? I am a tourist who has heard the name, but can't place it, but think I may want to avoid it. Thanks.
God knows. Never needed to go there. Sounds awful though.
It is pronounced Shoot'em locally. It is two blocks east of Mayhem. Turn left on Lawless, down to Corruption Corner, make a right on Blame Em. If that doesn't work you could go KFC and ask a police officer.
How about making laws to reverse the grants to the most corrupt and murderous country on Earth?
The grants were likely unlawful and if so, were never made. There may be nothing to reverse. Just deport.
A graduate of the School of Made Up Law is see.
Numerous Grand Court decisions seem to disagree, but revoking would be easier.
Most murderous country – Honduras according to Wikipedia (hooray – we only rank at number 34!)
Racist troll, 22:11. Have you checked the murder and robbery cases in the courts here recently? Dearie me, they are all born Caymanians and I taught many of them in school! Thugs by the age of 10. And our very own. We are just as good as Jamaicans at serious crime as the Northward figures show.
I don't think the U.S. would agree to that.
Do you realize that it is your savages? When you root them out, where do you plan to plant them? We all need to come together and put a plan in place to educate these men to respect self first and others including their properties. Once this is followed, we will not have this type of damaging behaviour from anybody. Lets save the country.
you are right , LETS SAVE THE COUNTRY, TO DO THAT we first have to stop these girls haveiong FATHERLESS CHILDREN It all starts with the family, most of these kids probably do not know their father, who by the way are probabl, no longer on the Island. If you have to have that kind of fun, protect yourself. If you cannot feed yourself, how can you feed children, promises are a comfert to a fool.
Abortion and the morning after pill solves that one
A solution that would be totally frowned upon in Cayman.
Wow. A block away from the Police station!!
No shit Sherlock!
Hey – the Fidelity Bank in Dr Roys was the subject of an armed robbery in broad daylight. Damn sight closer to GT police station, and directly opposite the Financial Crimes Unit at the time. No one was ever caught for that one, and I seem to recall there was some significant delay in the police even arriving at the bank.
Our politicians have made many mistakes, and trusted too many The most drastic one being the status grants, that did not go well for us. We are at the hands of criminals, war-mongers, thieves, minipulators and unscruplous persons who have no fear for God nor man. We continue to have such voilence, that will lead to destroying our peace, and providing fear, so please let us all pray for our well being, and the country.
I report many illegal activities and send letters to government officials.
They say they will look into it do an investigation and other lipservice anything to shut me up
that said they fail to do anything that may upset the pack.
In my opinion if i tell you of wrongdoing and you just let it continue you are just as guilty as those doing the offending.
The real animals are known to all but why be proactive?
The people that are supposed to run this place dont give a sh*t they like there cushey jobs and like it or not they must protect there family members from the law
It is sad that those folks dont know what its like to have noprotection.
The animals dont mess with those in power but me as common Joe I am just a target with no one to turn to for help.
Thus i am just going to keep my mouth shut for nowon its safer that way.
Perhaps in the future when it really gets bad they will start enforcing the laws againsed those known animals
Be fair. They tried to bring in an enforcer from Jamaica to take care of business – just a shame he had to go back.
Notice the SILENCE from the politicians.
They will bash Baines but now we hear nothing from the do-nothings.
Afraid of offending voters and losing their place at the trough.
15:36.You are bashing politicians for silence;but silence is better than listening to you yapping and doing nothing.
15:36.Depends on where you're listening and what you're listening for.Perhaps you should take the time to watch or listen to some of the broadcasts from the LA.Perhaps you could also read some of the other posts on CNS.
Baines cant vote thats why.
Caymanians, we have to change our way of thinking, and voting, lets stop voting for people because they know your mama, they have certain name, they come from certain background, they come from that particular side of the fence, their colour. We have never progressed and never will.
We are made to believe we are different from the other caribbean islands, thats bull shit we probably the only ones treated like slaves, that is why we think like one. You are free to think for yourselves, look around you and see what these pricks have done to these islands and it's people.
Just tell me which one is out there batting for you…publicly? dont vote for anyone that wait for the last minute and brings you a long list telling you he will do these things for you, BS.
Let him face the music now!!
This lot are cowards playing the blame game as usual
Thanks Mac for turnlng us into mini Jamaica. Cayman will never forgive you for destroying it for the sake of your greed and need for votes.
There you go. Only four comments until Mac is blamed. Next in the checklist is to blame Dart.
Hey. We can always do something about it! Sure, Mac started it, but why do we perpetrate it?
Sorry, but have you checked the nationality of the people at Northward prison?
Mostly all home grown thugs.
Since you seem to know, pray, do tell us the nationaliity of origin of those who grace HMP Northward with their presence? Pray, do tell us the nationality of origin of the baby-daddys who spawned and then abandoned many of them. You obviously know. I, for one, have very little confidence in the official version you seem to be repeating.
A majority perhaps, but "mostly all," nonsense.
Yaaaaaaaaa but who their PAPAAAAA is
and and where did their great grandpa come from, they need to deported back to those countries their fore-fathers left 100 years ago!
Anywhere you go in the world you will find the same things like this happening no matter how big or small the place might be or what race the person is.All we can do is have faith in GOD that the crime will go down..
Rubbish. You have been told before as I have submitted several countries previously where I didn't hear of this shit happening. Other readers have submitted countries where they have also lived and again, this level of crime from so few, was never experienced.
So what you are saying is situation normal, do nothing.
Idiotic statement. Crime will go down when we decide to take responsibility.
Devine intervention is learly lacking when it comes to crime in Cayman or, corruption, cronyism, gambling politicians and the rest. But then I dont exprct God to clear our mess up. I leave that to the police, politicians and the voters.
Bullshit. There is lots we can do. Pray all you want. God prefers those who help themselves. STOP IMPORTING POVERTY would be a big first step.
I agree that no matter where in the world you go, you will find similar a criminal, uncivilized
element. However, no belief in an imaginary man in the sky will help. How has that believing and praying worked out for us? It is time for action. The police have to get tough.
and the community needs to start informing the police. See something….say something. The police can not be everywhere and in a community such as GC where everyone knows everyone and everyone's business- it is time to drop a dime on the criminals.
Pray in one hand and crap in the next. See which one fills up first.
with continued news reports such as this it sounds like Cayman is over run by savages!!!! God help us if this is what our future is about.
I drove past there last night and figured the night would not end without some sort of bloodshed. These savages as you rightly out it are intent on destroying our islands. We need to root them out deal with them.
The penalties for crime should be greater. Gun crimes 25 years upwards. Let the criminals work for their food while in prison, put them out to pick up garbage, so they are seen. Let them work in rain, sun or storm. If they want good treatment, let them live and abide within the laws of the land. They should not be feed like they are seated in a restaurant. They serve the time and they learn what life is like inside a prison.
Hard work should be their excersise. No reduction in sentencing, give them the maximum.
Build the gallows
Applying the immigration and maintenance laws would be a start.
The low life people would NOT be needed here if the Caymanians steped up to the plate and did jobs they do not want to do. But why do that…welfare is much easier. The ex-pats in finance and tourism are not the problem.
"There are about 15 of them and they are known to us."
