Calling scam leads to costly phone calls.
(CNS): The police are issue yet another warning regarding another potential con that could see residents caught with a hefty bill. The public is being warned to be on the alert for suspicious telephone calls to their cell phones. Police have received reports of residents receiving calls from an overseas number, which if callers return will connect them to answer phone which could run up their bills.
Police said the calls come from +393193260037 and if answered the line is silent and you do not get charged for the call, however, if you return the call you will connect to an answer phone and you will be charged international dialling rates for the call. The police advise that if a call such as this is received it is terminated or ignored and certainly not returned.
Anyone with information about crime taking place in the Cayman Islands should contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS). All persons calling Crime Stoppers remain anonymous, and are eligible for a reward of up to $1000, should their information lead to an arrest or recovery of property/drugs.

If you google international dialling codes you will be able to find out which country the call originates from. (in this case Italy), which should make it easy enough to identify a potential scam.
The 9:18 poster speaks for many of us. I did return the call… however it was quickly apparent that there was no-one receiving the call but a taped message. Hnaging up is easy! I’d rather waste a few cents on peace of mind than miss an important call. Thank fully, I do not live in paranoid suspicion of every person and every ‘phone call I receive.
Better add +393193269041 to that list too! And no, I wasn’t about to call back a 12-digit phone number after 10 at night……
Surely if it were a friend or family member needing help they would leave you a message on yor voice mail?
Pahaahhahahahahahaa!! Curiosity killed the cat!! Fools that return missed calls from a numbr they don’t recognize!! Hahahaha! Serves you right! ;o)
I dont think it is a matter of curiosity killed the cat but when you have family/friends living overseas they could be trying to reach you in an emergency from an unknown number – and no I did not recieve a call from that number but just thinking of the situation and putting in my two cents
