Local musician revealed as drowning victim
(CNS): The man who died over the weekend after swimming in the South Sound area has been identified as 43-year-old Michael Greene, also known as Bishop, a well known name on the local music scene, News 27 reports. Although initially from Jamaica, ‘Bishop’ had live in the Cayman Islands for more than 14 years. Police have said that a post mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of Greene’s death, though they have stated there are no suspicious circumstances. Irving Hernandez, who worked in the studio with Bishop, said he would be releasing the latest track “Cease Fire” they had worked on together as a tribute to his friend.

My condolences to Michael’s family and friends.
Michael was one of the first people I met arriving on your beautiful island to visit friends. He was one of a kind and will not be forgotten. He is already missed as far away as Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. We were blessed to have him in our lives.
When I heard the news my heart was hurting, words alone cannot express how much I miss you….I miss you so much my friend ….throughout all of the years that I have known you ….you were one of the greatest person I have ever known, I have shed many tears for you, but deep down inside I know God will take good care of you. So until we meet again my friend I just wanted you to know that I will never forget you as long as I live! R.I.P
I have known Bishop since he first came to Cayman about 17 years ago. He was the personification of the friendly and harmonious relationship that Caymanians and Jamaicans have always enjoyed.
He roped right into our community, making his mark not only by being a hard, loyal and honest worker, but familiarizing himself with our culture, our norms and sharing his culture through many things such as music.
He had a passion for young people and was always ready to ‘reason’ and share a word of encouragement with anyone-especially ‘the yutes’ as Bishop would refer to us. His musical content was always positive and uplifting because he felt a responsibility to do so.
Bishop was a larger than life character, virtually impossible to dislike. He overwhelmed you with kindness and friendliness and would hail you from a mile away if he recognized you.
We have lost one of the finest members of our community and I have lost a friend.
RIP Bishop…the light you shined during your lifetime will never be put out.
RIP Bishop..u will be missed…………….times like these when we question why>>why you?
Why always the good guys?
Bishop was one of the best.
We already miss you. RIP my friend.
This comes as a shock to me as I would never in my mind believe this would have been the way Bishop would have died. He was a positive figure in our community and who was very hard working, honest, jovial, and responsible.
Bishop enjoyed dominoes, fishing, helping members of the public via repairs, etc. He will be sadly missed. RIP Bishop.
So sorry to hear Michael Green is no longer with us. A friend for a long time, we shared so many laughs together."Bishop" used to catch fish in the lake at my house, a job I really didn’t want to do myself, and he was always ready to do repairs or just check on me to see that I was OK. He was such a "big" man in personality, I can’t believe he is gone. A man with such a good heart, "Bishop", you will be missed.
So sorry to hear this news. Very sad. RIP Bishop and sincere condolences to family and friends.
RIP my brother
