Golding to sign extradition for ‘Dudus’

| 18/05/2010

(AP): Jamaica’s prime minister has said he will allow reputed drug kingpin Christopher "Dudus" Coke to be extradited to the US ending a nine-month fight with Washington but raising fears of a violent backlash from the suspect’s supporters. The announcement Monday night marked a reversal for Prime Minister Bruce Golding, who faced mounting public pressure to drop his opposition to the request. The wanted man allegedly controls a band of gunmen inside a barricaded neighborhood of west Kingston that Golding represents in parliament.

It will be quite interesting to see if the Jamaican government actually allows Mr. Coke to be extradited. Remember what happened to his father?

Isn’t he the son of the infamous Jamaican criminal Lester Lloyd Coke aka "Jim Brown"?

Recall what happened to him? Before the USA could go for him (they had already landed on JAM soil and were en route to the prison to collect him) he was found burnt to death in his cell!!

It was rumored he had too much to possibly say to the Americans!

    You can imagine?

Now the Americans have something on at least 3 Jamaican policians:

When you mix poverty with crocked politicans and uneducated people it ONLY equals one thing – violence – watch out Cayman!! We have a lot to fear – this is happening here also.

I too, wait to see wether "Dudus" will make it out alive to be brought back to the US or wether he will be "killed resisting arrest" or "killed in the shootout" or "mysteriously die in police custody"…either way, I don’t think there is ANY way he will live to see a day in the US courts…there is just too much to be lost by too many people who supported him and sought his support to be elected…oh, well…we will keep a close eye..but, personally, I think he is already cooling on a slab somewhere…

    What a case!

On Tuesday, in a sitting of Parliament, Jamaica opposition alleged that the Jamaican government, lead by JLP Bruce Golding, refused to sign an extradition request for Dudus based off a treaty between the Jamaican Government and the US Government. Bruce claim that fullfilling the request would be contrary to Jamaican’ Evidence Law. The Prime Minister then lied to the Jamaican parliament that his party did not contract the law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips to represent the JA Government to lobby against the US Government on the broken treaty.

As a result, the PNP party responded for his resignation. Because Bruce did not only lied to the Jamaican people, but sided with (an alleged) criminal, (suspected of) drug and firearm trafficking; especially, traffic between Jamaica, Columbia, and the UK.

Inquiries were made and it was shown through the US Justice department that the said law firm had secured a contract worth U.S. 400,000 dollars to represent the Jamaican government’s side.

Yesterday the Prime Minister apologizes to the Jamaican people for his involvement with Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. Bruce finally declared that the Attorney General would sign the authorization for the extradition case against Dudus. I check the Gleaner and saw a pic where you can see two individuals closing down their business with hurricane shutters. The talk now is gunmen will protest the decision to extradite a man who is also known for his local charity.

What amazes me in all of this, is how lies, bribery, political corruption, and association with corrupt figures can cause untold violence waiting to be errupt. Cayman politicians better learn from Jamaica’s government

all of this is just pure foolishness all for one man

This is nothing new, a waste of time. As soon as they catch Dudus, someone else will take his seat.  "Presidential Click" and mafia family will see to the succession of power in Jamaica. And you never know the Colombian cartel were probably behind the extradition request from long time. XXXX

    Jamaica Observer:

A warrant for the arrest of Tivoli Gardens strongman, Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke was signed this morning by a high court judge, the Observer has learnt.

The warrant gives the police Fugitive Apprehension Team the power to collar Coke who is wanted in the United States on drug and gun running charges.

Last night Prime Minister Bruce Golding announced that the authority to proceed with the extradition of Coke would be signed by Justice Minister and Attorney General Dorothy Lightbourne.

The US State Department has since August last year requested that the Jamaican government extradite Coke, who they describe as a major trans-national narcotic kingpin.

Coke’s stronghold of Tivoli Gardens and Denham in West Kingston has been barricaded by his supporters who say they fear an invasion from the security forces.

The Observer is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further details as they become available.

It was "Dudus" or Golding himself.

He should have let the US come get him long ago, now he may have to defend himself from those Lawless criminals in his Constituency.
