Grand Cayman #15 in worlds top islands to live on
(CNS): Grand Cayman has once again been listed as one of the best islands to live on in the world according to the July/August issue of Islands Magazine. Listed at number 15 in the editor’s top 20 islands to make your home, the magazine says foreigners who invest over $900,000 in property or a business in the Cayman Islands, can apply for a 25 year residency certificate. Each year, editors of Islands Magazine which has a circulation of more than 204, 000, rank the top 20 islands, based on criteria such as real estate values, ease of immigration, expat communities, and quality of island life.
The article which particularly references Grand Cayman’s diving and the famed Seven Mile Beach, also includes an interview with a locally based tourism industry worker. This is the third year that Grand Cayman has been included as one of the Islands on the list following a mention in 2007 and 2009.

15th out of 20 really isn’t anything for which to be proud – that is the lowest quarter.
Do the math:
If 204,000 people voted, that means 153,000 (or 75%) of those people would choose somewhere else to live.
when was this last time anyone just stopped and took a look at the sea? took a picture of the sunset? Cayman is BEAUTIFUL.. #15 aint too shabby.. lets raise it up cayman! stop the criiiime already! as yougn’s we dont have too much influence or interest in immigration and real estate really, but u dont see one of them factors in deciding the position of top islands is "quality of island life" .. let us match our island living with the same level as our island beauty… we all play a part 🙂

I believe only the very rich with tax free bank accounts would be REALLY interested in living in Cayman. Based on my own survey.
It is interesting that they have stated that the cost of living is 20% higher than the USA.
What policies are being put in place to reduce this, or are we simply going down a road without a macroeconomic plan to curtail and reduce this?
We live on an island. Everything has to be shipped here. Obviously it costs more.
Why? It’s just a factor to consider when making the decision. Unless you are commenting generally.

A list of the world’s top islands that includes New Zealand and "Tokyo, Japan". Mmmm, islands for the geographically challenged. Maybe someone should tell them about the terms "North Island" and "Honshu".
This obviously counts for something and note the word "again". Therefore, many of the detractors who often criticize and malign Cayman (and Caymanians) just for the sake of having something negative to say should take notice and, quite frankly, put a sock in it (or depart). Yes, there may be progress to be made in some areas of human rights, the political system, curbing rising crime, etc. but overall, life in the Cayman Islands is good and of course, better for many of those detractors than life in their own home countries (hence their presence in Cayman).
We Caymanians too should take note and also bear this in mind when we criticize. Certainly not suggesting that constructive criticism has no place, as such should always remain an integral part of a healthy society, but as I am often reminded by expat friends, Cayman is still a great place to live. Enjoy it!
PS, BTW it must be borne in mind by ALL that we are a very young society in comparison to even our Caribbean neighbours – maturity will come.
Nope, we really are just here for the cash. I need to be paid a lot of extra money to live here.

Thank you for posting that part of the comment. It is so absurd to hear 1503 as the date most often used!
