Forth tropical storm emerges in Atlantic
(CNS): The sixth tropical depression of the Atlantic hurricane season which formed on Saturday afternoon became tropical storm Danielle on Sunday afternoon. At 5pm the tropical storm was about 725 miles west of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph moving towards the northwest as 12 mph. The National Hurricane Centre said a turn toward the west-northwest with an increase in forward speed is expected later tonight along with an additional strengthening during the next 48 hours. Tropical storm Danielle could be near hurricane intensity by late Tuesday forecaster said.
Currently tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 50 miles from the centre and the five day predictions, at this stage, suggest the storm will not affect the Caribbean region.
Danielle is only the fourth storm this year in the Atlantic but with the busiest half of the season just beginning long range forecasters have predicted several more are likely to form in the next three months.
