Selita features in rapper’s new video

| 28/09/2010

(CNS): According to Rap-up.com, while the two may not be admitting any romantic involvement, Kayne West has shot a 40-minute video in Prague starring Cayman Islands supermodel Selita Ebanks. The song “Runaway” will be available October 4 on iTunes, the music website reports. The single is from the platinum-selling rapper’s much-anticipated new but yet to be titled album, which is set to be released on 22 November. Although West and Ebanks have been photographed together at a number of venues in recent weeks, Cayman’s supermodel has dismissed the rumours, insisting their relationship is purely platonic.

Ebanks recently commented on the speculation about rekindling her former romance with the rapper and said: "No, no, no … I’m just happy that he’s a great friend. I love his creativity. I love that he thinks outside the box. He’s just himself. Not only am I a fan, I support him 100 per cent."

Oh my God!  Is it true!

Did Selita on Twitter really called Caymanians small-minded people???

Or you just made this up because you don’t like her?

Please don’t tell me that is the case!

    • Anonymous says:

So what if she did…Caymanians are small minded people.  That is why we are in the problems we are in today!!!  Good for her, she bettered herself, more then I can say for the generation of today!! Model, Victoria Secret Model, Macy’s Model…wow that is a great accomplishment!!!  Its her business who she is friends with, you don’t see articles on her drunk, into drugs, stealing!

      Good for you Selita!

  5. Islandtasty says:

Well… if Selita is making money from this, we will see where she puts it. If she really love her country Cayman Islands, you know she will put the monies she make into the country.

We will just have to see!

As for those who are saying how they are so proud of her, I think they shouldn’t make a judgement about her yet. Let’s see what she does with her talent and beauty first. Will she use it to glorify God? Or, will she become like the other celebrities, caught up in the world of being a celebrity.

Maybe Kayne West can rewrite the Cayman Islands National Song…That would be good

"Maybe Kayne West can rewrite the Cayman Islands National Song…That would be good"

How dare you disrespect our National Song. If you think so little of us, forget we are even on the map and read about your own country. You’ll find you won’t have any time to find fault with other countries.

Damned if you do good and Damned if you don’t here… whats a girl to do??

All the best Selita, continue to shine your light bright.

  8. West Bayer says:

Good for you Selita – now please see if you can help gov’t bring down some major artist CHEAP for Jazz fest rather than ONE PERSON a quarter million dollars for a few minutes of singing! That would be very helpful.

And why aren’t DOT using her image for our ad’s??? They should ask Selita to model, Crown Atelier to design, The IZ to sing and Franke Flowers to direct?? A FULL OUT CAYMANIAN PRODUCTION!!! 😉

"Tanks dahling and am wery proud as to how fah you’s come"!!!

ps: TOO BAD SHE WASN’T ONE OF OUR MISS CAYMAN’S – SHE WOULD HAVE KILLED IT AT THE INTERNATIONALS!!!

    • Anonymous says:

Maybe you should think twice before posting BS. Selita in currently in contractual agreements with various entities that will not allow for her image to just be used any and everywhere. There would be little chance of Government getting her to use image, voice, or any likeness of her based on this.

Interesting to see what you all think about these Kayne West Lyrics

The lyrics of this song, Runaway, are Kanye at his subversive best. That’s the real story here. While readers are here arguing about foolishness, Kanye and Selita get the last laugh.

Although I suspect many of CNS’ readers will miss the point of the song, its about a break up so Selita should dedicate it to ALL of her haters and continue doing her thing.

As the song says: "Let’s have a toast for the a**holes…. Runaway as fast as you can."

  10. Flip Flops says:

This is as good publicity as say maybe bringing Michael Vick down to record an NFL special.

  11. Dan Dan says:

Wow, I read the article and was about to move on until I read the comments some of you guys have posted, lol, WOW.

It’s her life and I hope she lives it to the fullest. If she considers Kanye a friend who are we to judge, yea he comes across as a real a**hole, but most of us have a few friends like that too!

Selita’s presence in Hollywood does shine a light on Cayman (whether good or bad can be debated) but I know it can’t be as bad as the publicity we get everytime MacKeeva opens his mouth.

Selita is experiencing what few people around the world will ever experience and I do hope that she takes every advantage of it.

We can’t expect that she’ll pretend Cayman is a paradise either… I’ve lived here my whole life and I am reminded everyday about the small mindedness of some of our people. e.g. some comments on this article. Tell the truth and shame the devil my parents always used to say.

I applaud Selita in her drive and perserverance in what is one of the toughest industries to succeed in and I hope she is surrounded by people who have her best interests at heart! Good luck Selita!!!!!

    You go girl!

    Jealous, ones still envy.(J.O.S.E.)

I’m sure that they will never reach the heights that you have. Funny how some people care more about crime and other negativity than someone actually making a positive contribution to their society.

  13. Hmmm… don’t mean to be negative, but just what is the Rapper rapping on?  What are the lyrics?  Selita is a role model now. who can positively or negatively impact youngsters.. so I would like to know what she stands for!

  14. Anonymous says:

I like this one person comments about being mad cuz she said small people live in Cayman yet most of these comments proving her right!

  15. Anonymous says:

how?? What you need to do is follow her on twitter and see what she REALLY thinks about Island living (i.e only small minded people live on the island, that is why she only comes to visit).  I stopped following her after that (that was the last straw cuz she has said some other mean things too).  Real great publicity that is!!  One for team Selita yayyyy!! – and I always wondered why so many of us "small minded caymanians" even cared to notice her.

As with most celebrities, fame does go to their head after a while, (this is sooooo true!) With that said ….. THERE IS NOTHING FOR US SMALL MINDED PEOPLE TO CHEER ABOUT! SHE IS JUST ANOTHER BODY MADE UP OF A LOT OF FAKE MATERIAL LIKE A LOT OF OTHER CELEBRATIES… Thank you.

    • Anonymous says:

I agree with you 100%. (what you need to do is)  She like many has forgot where she has come from and that it was the same small-minded people that probable helped her while they lived here on the island.  If this is a rolemodel, do we have  long way to go Cayman!!

For all of you thats throwing negative remarks to wards Selita How many of you can say that you have accomplish half of what she done???? Everyone is intitle to there opinion but stop with this bashing when you see any one trying to do better with there lives espically your own young caymanians  geezes.

    • Bigwan Ker says:

I don’t want to take anything away from Selita, but let’s not overplay it here.  Her "accomplishment" is to be shapely enough and good looking enough that people want to take lots of pictures of her in her underwear and send them to people’s houses in little catalogues (which is truly an awesome thing when you think about it, and for which I am profoundly grateful of course).  Selita didn’t accomplish being shapely and good looking – her genetics caused that.  Add the hand of God if you believe in that sort of stuff, and toss her parents a nod for contributing the 2 sets of DNA that recombined to make Selita, but you can’t say Selita is responsible for her own DNA.  That’s just silly.

That said, I am happy for Selita and I am happy that Cayman is getting some "exposure" as well (somewhat like Selita, har dee har har).  It’s all good.

      Now where is that catalogue?

      • Anonymous says:

There are thousands of pretty, shapely girls who try but don’t make it as models. It takes something more than that. Apparently she is a supermodel and celebrity to boot.

        • Bigwan Ker says:

More practice with the underwear shots, I expect.  It is an art to be respected and studied.

          Have a great weekend!

    • Wasafantilthen says:

No, I aint hating… just upset that an "ambassador" of Cayman would really talk so low about Cayman on such a widely known and used network, especially when she has so many followers, a lot of them the same Caymanians that she was putting down.  If you have those types of thoughts, keep it in your head not commit it to black and white.

For her to say that is a true slap in the face to all the ambitious caymanians struggling to make a few dollars.  And what about all the "foreigners" who come here to live… are they really small minded to come here to live and work??

We are already getting too much negative press with all the murders, robberies and money laundering accusations. Wecertainly dont need it from "Cayman’s first supermodel" too.

Why are you bothering to read the article and then make negative and disrespectful comments if you are not interested?

  20. Anonymous says:

Congrats Macy’s Girl!  Have any of the critics noticed that Selita was chosen to be the model for the new Macy’s ad campaign?  Wow, no matter how you criticize it’s hard to beat that.  She will take criticism all the way to the bank!  You go girl.  Make Cayman proud.

      • Anonymous says:

Why would anyone choose to leave our beloved islands?

      • Anonymous says:

Publicity for Cayman?  Kanye West?  We need that type of publicity like a hole in the head.  He is one rapper I know the majority of people wouldn’t want anything to do with!!!

As with most celebrities, fame does go to their head after a while.  With that said, I do wish her all the best in her career and personal life.  She has worked hard to achieve that much.

You are obviously a sucker for punishment then – if you dont care why bother waste your time to read the article much less take the time to make stupid and disrespectful comments – LOOSER

      • a guy learning to spell says:

I don’t get "looser".  "Looser" means less tight than some other comparable item.  Are you asking for a tighter comment, or complaining that this one is too tight already? Dem farkin boo-stairds…

        Where the hell is Dick?
