Cops plan Christmas crime prevention campaign

(CNS): Following the announcement that the police will be cracking down on poor driver the cops have also said they will be launching a campaign next Friday for a Christmas crime prevention drive. A police spokesperson said the RCIPS will be encouraging Cayman residents to pick up some crime prevention tips when they go shopping next weekend at the supermarket. Police officers will be stationed at the islands main supermarkets to provide shoppers with advice, information andtips on personal safety. “We hope that this will help to combat burglary and other thefts of personal property this Christmas,” the spokesperson added.

From 3pm to 6pm on Friday 10 December officers have enlisted the assistance of Fosters ,Hurleys and Kirks supermarkets in this one day anti crime partnership. The festive season often sees a spike in burglaries and break-ins and given the current increase in crime in Cayman the police can expect a particularly pressing holiday season.

Inspector Tricia Bodden is the officer in charge of the event and she explained that the main purpose of the campaign was to get people thinking about protecting their property in the run up to Christmas. “We want everyone to have a great holiday without the anguish of being a victim of burglary and theft,” added Bodden.

(CNS): According to reports in the British tabloid press and on various international websites Cayman’s very own supermodel Selita Ebanks has been spotted helping rap star Kanye West wrap up some presents for charity. Although The Victoria Secret model and star of West’s first film Runaway has denied dating the rap star they made a great team ‘wrapping ’ gifts at the ‘New Yorkers For Children’s Wrap To Rap event’. Following Selita’s recent appearance here in Cayman for a local fashion event the latest news on the supermodel is she will be hosting a fashion show on BET and is working on a book about female empowerment.

“The bookis real personal,” Ebanks told NBC New York. “It’s little antidotes and things I’ve learned. It’s not just about modeling. It’s about being successful as a young woman.”

More than 2000 gifts where gifts donated by Walmart will be given to foster children for Christmas all of which were wrapped by a bevy of stars.

(CNS): Johnson & Johnson-Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals has initiated the recall of its Mylanta products after an internal review revealed the possible presence of alcohol from flavouring agents was not noted in the packaging. Certain flavouring agents contribute small (<1%) amounts of alcohol. Although the manufacturer said it is unlikely that use of these products will cause either alcohol absorption or alcohol related adverse events, the products are being recalled. As a result Foster’s Food Fair has said it has removed the indigestion products from its shelves.

Apologising for any inconvenience the local supermarket encouraged all customers who have purchased any Mylanta Regular Strength Original 12 FL Oz to return it to their local Foster’s Food Fair store for a full refund.
