French marines make unexpected stop in Cayman
(CNS): A French military plane made an emergency landing at the Owen Roberts International Airport around noon Sunday, 23 January, due to engine trouble. Cayman27 reported that there were French Marines on board. According to the local television report, there were about 40 people aboard who were all unhurt. The crew, who are based in Suriname, did not tell Cayman27 where they were coming from or wherethey were going. Emergency crews closed off the roads around the airport before it landed and it was met by fire officers, who escorted the aircraft to front of the Cayman Airways hanger. Well, if they were all armed… it could have been an invasion.
Downside, we’d all be speaking French and driving on the wrong side of the road…
Upside, good bread…
Hrm… pondering…
I hope they didn’t repair it without work permits……
They came in at a snails pace.
Thank god the French are here. Were they coming here to surrender?
Ha Ha, Would not be the first time
As long as they keep the frogs off the power lines, I have no complaints.
You just never know what is flying around in our air space….
That is one thin g I like about the people of Cayman, they are always so welcoming. Hope everything goes well with the people on the plane ans a safe journey to theirnext destination.
Granting landing rights in an emergency situation is an imperative which has nothing to do with manners or the character of our people, or anyone else. It is simply international aviation protocol in action. These guys would have landed in North Korea if it was the closest airfield.
Yes and be greeted with hand grenades.
I have been to North Korea, twice
I haven’t.
