Police seize firearm and ammo in George Town

| 28/03/2011

(CNS): Following the report of a disturbance in the early hours of Saturday morning in George Town, officers from the RCIPS Uniform Support Group have seized a hand gun (left) and ammunition, police said Monday. On 26 March at around 2.45am officers responded to the report in the vicinity of Lawrence Boulevard, an area where there is a late night restaurant as well as two nightclubs nearby. The two men were reportedly arrested by police at the location after the revolver and bullets were seized. Both men remain in police custody but a spokesperson for the RCIPS said neither man has yet been charged with any offence relating to the weapon. The police have not yet confirmed the ages of the men who are currently being held.

Police inquiries are continuing and the RCIPS is asking witnesses to this incident to contact either the CID at George Town or to provide information anonymously and confidentially through Crime Stoppers by calling 800-8477.

How many times have we heard this…

Don’t be so quick to jump for joy until its been reported that someone has been charged with a firearms offence.

Guns don’t committ crimes or kill people by themselves.

The person behind the gun is the most important factor so unless someone is found responsible and charged and convicted…

All the police have is a gun.

Firearms and ammo. recovered. That is the key. Well done RCIPS and those invoved in making the call. I am not kidding myself by thinking that it will always the case but we the public must also get involved in assisting when we can and not rest on our laurels or crawling in our shells because of an attitude of “it’s none of my business” . Well guess what it’s all of our business, if we care for our Beautiful Islands and our children and grand-children whom one day will also want to be proud of their birth place or where they grew up that is full of history of iron men and iron woman that brought our Islands from one of ” Islands that time forgot to it’s glorious days. It’s never too late to turn the tables around or at least try.

Way of life ,we may as well get used to it. If it takes Uniform Support Group to respond to a disturbance in George Town (wise decision sending them seeing what they recovered). With the level of violence we have here how can an average citizen be expected to go about their daily lives without some form of protection.

That thing looks like a throw back to the wild west. A bit hard hiding that on one self. Hey Gangsta’s be real men and just sling it in a side holster and slap on some spurs on. Truth is, in the old days the real hardcore dudes would have thought you all look pretty invitin’ with you pants hangin’ down , wearing ear rings and such.
