Former teller admits stealing from Brac bank
(CNS): A Brac woman pleaded guilty to twelve counts of forgery, fraud and theft in Grand Court on Friday. Takeisha McLean admitted to various offences, including forging deposit slips, stealing bank cheques and making false document transfers when she worked as a teller at the Cayman Brac branch of Cayman National Bank. The court heard that the various offences all took place in August 2008 and although McLean was charged with twenty counts, including the transfer of criminal property under the proceeds of crime law, she denied attempting to send stolen money via Quikcash to Jamaica. The crown accepted the guilty pleas and agreed to leave the remaining counts on file.
McLean was released on bail after her attorney asked for a social enquiry report. She will return to court for a sentencing hearing on 17 June.

Be careful what you do because there are consequences to all our actions.
If your contemplated action is not legal, be aware that you may have a legal price to pay. Moreover, as Ms. McLean is discovering, there is the social consequence to pay in the form of condemnation and castigation by society. Bothare expected outcomes of being convicted of a crime. The judge has hi/her say and so does society.
I am absolutely flabbergasted by these comments being written here about Tekeisha McLean. Unlike most people here who have so much to say about her, I personally know Tekeisha as she was once married to my brother who is the father of three of her five children that you all have spoken so much about.
What Tekeisha did almost four years ago is wrong and that is the inevitable, so my question now is why continue to bring it up and discuss her life all over a newspaper article? You, nor I, know the reasons why she did, what she did, so who are you to say that you are “better” than her, or that she deserves what she has coming for her?
As I sit here and read these comments about religion and the law I can do nothing but sit back and laugh, do you all whom speak of religion & the law know about either of the two? I am currently one year away from starting law school and I even though I am not the perfect Christian, I am religious. Yes, Tekeisha must pay the time for the crime she has committed; do you not think she knows this? If you are not her lawyer, or a representative of the crown then stay out and stop trying to solve her case.
When and if she is sentenced to prison will any of you be there to support her or her family? No, so I suggest you stay out and keep the ignorant comments to yourself. See this is the problem now in the Cayman Islands; people are way too concerned about what is happening with the next person that they cannot see what is wrong within their own lives.
As for her kids, leave them out of this. They are perfectly fine and do not want for anything. My three nieces are all in school getting good grades, they have food, shelter, and a huge family support system. So do not worry or “pity” them because they are fine and will continue to be fine. I come not with hostility towards anyone who has written anything here
I have only said this because I have been home from university for 3 days and all I can hear is people discussing things they know nothing about, let the criminal justice system do their job and you continue to do yours.

Bottom line is, she stole… there are no if's or but's about it.
Regardless of her situation, she had a job therefore it is not like she NO means of income. She was not begging on the roadside, she was not holding up signs in the middle of town saying unemployed, she was EMPLOYED. If she needed money for her children or for whatever reason, I am sure family, friends, those who are on here saying they know her personally could have assisted… government could have assisted… someone could have assisted. No excuse for stealing. NONE!
The woman was brought to Jesus for commiting a sinful act. Jesus stoop down- wrote on the ground, and when he arose he asked – Woman where is thine acquisers? she said no one master, he said neither do I condem you -depart and sin no more.
Stealing is sin, stealing another woman's husband and leaving the children to suffer and growup with out their dad is sin. Stealing time from your employer is sin. Away with the stealing business and we all can condem her. I don't condone her actions, I don't even know of who she is, but what I do know is that she is a human being, a mother, and she is some mother's child. Take care what you say or how you handle other people's business – mind your own business- let the court deal with their business and we wil lhave a better world, more peace will exist among all.
All you women who are condeming her is guilty of stealing people's husband and making a lot of children suffer- shut up and find something to do with your time. What the hell are we discussing here? Who cares which Island she is from and how many kids she has? She comitted a crime and who knows if she would have stopped any time soon. There need to be appropriate consequences for her actions!

So the bible says: first, that she gets to go to hell; second, that killing her is allowed and no punishment would follow; and third, that if she can't repay the theft (double, fourfold or fivefold, depending on where you look), then she is to be sold as a slave. Gather 'round, bidding starts at fifty cents…

Actually I am better than her, because I don't steal.
I'm not going to "throw a stone", because that's just a silly reference to an age when mobs killed people by stoning them to death for perceived offences (like not being a christian, for example), but I'm not going to pretend that I'm not better than her, because I don't steal.
I hope she takes a higher road going forward.

I know the young lady also but why on earth do you need to tell the whole world she has five children. That is her problem not yours and the lord said to be fruitful and multiply. For christ sake, stick to the topic and stop involving innocent children in the news. Hopefully, she will serve her time for the crime she committed.
Many women are raising children on their own and do not resort to stealing. That is no excuse. Take a second job if you have to. She was in a postion of trust and she violated that. Let this be a lesson to all who are tempted to steal from their place of employment.

LOL, I need a reality check ? The reality is that the money she stole most likely belongs to people who are struggling just as much as she is. If there are no jobs in the Brac she better tighten her belt and learn to economize. There is just NO excuse for what she has done. It is a waste of time and money which gives defence attorneys woolly excuses for why their client should stay out of jail.
Point is, she is Caymanian and she committed a serious crime and breach of trust. There really is no need for a social inquiry and she should serve the required the sentence fully. Unfortunately I know exactly who this person is, she has five children, two of whom only reside for and I don't think she is 25 yet. Irresponsibilty and thoughtless actions looks like something that she often do. This here is a horrible example of our youth now and the youth of Cayman as bad as it is and is getting, a mother should not be adding to it. Did she even think of her children when she was stealing and the consequences? Obviously not. May the good Lord be with her children and watch over them as she serve her time in Fairbanks Prison.
Not that I am advocating for stealing, but have you every thought that her children may have been the real reason behind her stealing. Those of us who know the yung lady, know that she has a few kids well. She was married and seperated from her husband-chances are leaving her to support her kids all by herself. This too is a bit on the speculative side, but let's keep an open mind on this.

It's pretty easy for us to sit in our comfortable chairs at home or in office and make any comment to help destroy the young lady. I agree that it was a bad idea and she stole. Wondering who the hell out there would not resort to doing whateevr it takes to feed a family. Remember this is all speculative and might not have been the case. Maybe you were right in that she just had sticky fingers and wanted to make some easy money. But what if you were wrong? Give us a break with all the self righteousness going on. Bet you may surprise yourself, had you found yourself in a difficult position where you felt there was not another choice.

Her children are not the "reason" for her stealing. Sticky fingers and wanting things too easy are the reason for her stealing. I was a single mother with 3 young children and I raised them to adulthood without resorting to stealing. My son is a single father with two children who works two jobs approximately 80 hours a week to support his and does not steal to do it. Where there is a will there is a way and it does not include stealing so please stop trying to make excuses for her violating a trusted position.

Haven't you people heard of birth control? If you're gonna make like bunny rabbits at the drop of every hat, while you are still effectively children yourselves, take a pill for god's sake! Look what these children having children are doing to your society. Poverty, massive crime wave, no chance to get educated and get ahead so you can have and raise children with educated, employed and financially stable parents (yes, hopefully both of them).
The government should cancel one trip to somewhere for Mac and JuJu and use the savings for a birth control and family planning education program together with FREE birth control. IUDs, pills and condoms for everyone, I say.
That is the problem in society today, just because you are for so and so or know so and so, some people should be exempted from the consquences of their criminal acts? One rule for ALL! If they commit the crime they must do the time! I am sick and tired of all these criminals getting slaps on their hands! Lock them all up, and when the prison is too full, give them tents to sleep in, and dont worry about the budget for the operational expenses for the prison. Have the budget set, if the prison population doubles, then each prisoner will then eat only half! And if you run out of space, I have a dog house that I will be happy to loan the government to house a few of them in!

And she does not realise that this will "follow" her around for years and years. When she finishes her sentance, she will find employers shunning her (once a thief, always a thief) and she will most likely never find a job in a position of trust again. In a small community like Cayman Brac, it will be impossible. She has ruined her life…all for the sake of a few dollars here and there. Utterly stupid.
Social inquiry? For this level of dishonesty the only inquiry should be "how many years is she going to serve?"
First of all this girl was wrong for doing what she did, but it's a pity she is going to get the book thrown at her, when there are so many of them out there that needed to have the book thrown at them and they got away with it. Guess it's who you know! Anyway, hope she has learned her lesson. Wish some others had gotten what they deserve from stealing from their employers!
