Cops find loaded gun and arrest 3 robbery suspects

| 02/08/2011

(CNS): Officers from the RCIPS uniform support group recovered a loaded gun after a search in West Bay on Sunday evening. They also found gloves and a ski mask during the operation triggered by the suspicious behaviour of three men near to Club Inferno who have now been arrested. A police spokesperson said that at around 9.55 pm on Sunday 31 July, officers from the RCIPS Uniform Support Group were on routine patrol along Hell Road when they saw two men acting suspiciously by the side of the building. As the officers approached them another man came from the rear of the premises. All three were detained and the area was searched. (Photo Dennie Warren Jr)

During the search a loaded handgun, gloves and a ski mask were found nearby. A small quantity of Ganja was also recovered from the men. All three were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of Ganja. Police stated Tuesday that all three remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

Good job! XXX Crime is our main problem. Nothing will flourish if crime continues. We can argue about a Port, Caymanian Status, immigration, Mount Trashmore location, etc. But nothing matters more that erradicating criminals and stepping up ecuation and values for future Cayman generations. We did not do a good job (we are all responsible for the failure) and now we are paying the price. Let's not make that mistake twice. We must start now with even the smallest of the events. Let's all follow the rules and be polite to others, park on the right places, obey traffic laws even if nobody is watching, stop throwing trash out of your car window and pick up what you see on the floor. Stop turning right where is not allowed; use the pedestrian crossings, etc, etc. Respect is what needs to come back. And if our children see how we respect the laws and others and we teach them values and the great results of effort and dedication then and only then, crime will go down. In the mean time, hit them hard!

SEE BAINES… THAT is how PROACTIVE POLICING is supposed to be done. So dont tell me that we can't continue with this strategy… IN YOUR FACE and UNDER YOUR SKIN Law Enforcers. That's TRULY the way.

Erm….this is the strategy devised by Baines…and lo and behold…it is actually working. One step at a time Superman…You can't expect the streets to be clean of scumbags overnight.

Lets hope that te police not only get these guys, but get sufficient evidence that will convict then.  Not like the past gun cases.

Could very well have been in George Town, Red Bay, Bodden Town – seems guns are not partial to West Bay anymore!

Now let's check the DNA found on these items.  We hope there will a match with the DNA they found at other robberies and the suspects.

Goog work men, keep locking them up. We are going to eventually get to know who all the gunmen are and we will mark them for life.

    Excellent work!

The problem now lies with the Judicial system to make sure something is done about this gun law.  There must be a GUN  COURT NOW in the Island.   Bringing in Judges from abroad to deal with these cases.  Give them Lifetime in GUN COURT.

Good!  Loaded handgun, gloves and ski mask – keep them in custody as long as possible!!

    Good work guys!

Gloves, a mask, and a gun…………separate these guys and get one of them to start giving inconsistent information.    At least one of these guys must have been involved in a past robbery.    Mount Trashmore is getting big, but its not a ski hill……

    Good Job!

  17. Good work says:

Good Work RCIPS, get them one at a time. It takes patience and hard work but you all deserve a pat on the back or even a raise!

Great!  Not try to see if they had anything to do with the past robberies..  I hope you put them away for a long time…!

  19. Cat says:

    Great News!!

I hope they will be fingerprinted quickly, and linked to other roberries, once it is proven that they were and we can have some of these issues solved.

Good now lock them up!!! Zero tolerance.

  21. anonymous says:

WHAT??  You mean to tell me that some good old fashioned police work and common sense managed to apprehend 3 suspects, recovere a loaded firearm and a quantity of drugs??   WITHOUT the assistance of an operational order or a TACAD, or a multi-million dollar flying mosquito or a Hemi powered Charger??  GOOD HEAVENS, don't let the commissioner (small c) know this!!  Who knows where this kind of ANARCHY will lead??  BLIMEY, next thing you know, officers will actually be seen walking and chewing gum at the same time…THIS WILL NOT DO!!

Seriously though, this was FANTASTIC work!  I only made the above tongue in cheek comments to illustrate what a lot of people within the RCIPS already know…You don't need GIMMICKS to fight crime…You need officers with INITIATIVE and EMPOWERMENT!!

  22. Swine says:

See what happens when real police officers actually do what they are supposed to do? Much respect to those officers, thank you for making our communities that much safer.

  23. Anonymous says:

EXCELLENT RCIP! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. NOW IT'S UP TO THE PROSECUTORS TO DO THEIR JOB !

  24. Anonymous says:

This is the result we would expect when patrols actually stop to investigate suspicious observations.  Far too many in RCIPS would have observed nothing and simply driven by.  It is not a mystery where these places are.  Glad to hear someone with some sense in RCIPS is actually taking their oath seriously, making arrests and actually recovering evidence.  Thank you!  This is what we want!

Hotspot team used to do this all the time, they used to shut down sessions (that seem to be legal now) too. Not sure what happened to them though?

  25. Anonymous says:

Hurray!  More of that please!  But for goodness sakes process the evidence properly so that we can get a conviction!

  26. Anonymous says:

That's good policing even if no convictions result
