Robbers steal empty cash register from KFC
(CNS): Two would-be-robbers walked away with far less than they bargained for on Thursday night during a robbery at the Kentucky Fried Chicken drive-thru West Bay Road, George Town. Police say that the masked armed men made an attempt on the take-out restaurant on foot at around 10.36 pm (18 August) when they walked up to the drive thru window. One of the men was armed with what appeared to be a firearm but the other who was armed with a machete reached through the drive thru window, grabbed a cash register and ran off. However, management confirmed that the register taken by the robbers was empty. (Photo Dennie Warren Jr)
The robber who had the gun is described as being 6ft tall and skinny, wearing a black sweater with a white covering over his face. Police said that this suspect had also ran off empty handed in the direction of Watlers Road but not before attempting to enter a parked vehicle which was locked and yielded nothing for the criminals.
The second suspect who grabbed the register was said to be only 5ft 3” wearing a green plaid hoodie wrapped over his face.
Police confirmed no shots were fired and no-one was injured in the incident.
Anyone with information about this crime should contact George Town CID on 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers 800-8477 (TIPS).

Cayman chases off the foreign investors, then Caymanians become criminals because there’s no money left here for jobs for them, so the rest of the foreign investors start going, so there’s less around to steal, and on it goes. As I watch the Island spiral down, I have to ask: was this what the people and the leaders meant to achieve in making it harder for foreigners to come, invest and stay in Cayman? Or was this just a big mistake?
Thursday again! they need a little running around money for the weekend. How nice.
now to check ecay for an ad selling a cash till
Only if they're looking to make a profit.
Black or white guys, so we can be on the lookout . . . . .
They'll have "idiot" written across their forehead.
How about letting those police who are allowed to be armed work on private details on their off time. In other words let businesses hire them as guards when they are off duty.
They must be copy-cat crims that base their crime on a movie.
Unfortunately they watched "Dumb and Dumber" the other night…
Dem wouda try get away wid som a dos taisty chicken wings man i tellin' you- better than nothing !!!
Note to robbers – you got to get to the till before the politicians do.
How tall is Mac?
Too tall. Besides he probably would have been smart enough to grab a handful of chicken too.
Did the robber say "Sweetheart, hand over the money"?
And sweetheart said "not today bobo"
And the robber said OK, I Kintekit.
How come police-speak is always saying "what appeared to be a firearm"? Machete is always just "machete." Do they think people are better at identifying a machete than "what appears to be a firearm"? Maybe it was a rubber pirate sword. It seems like part of a general state of denial about the existence of firearms–like we don't have firearms here so people can't be expected to know what one looks like.
When somone is holding a machette – it is clear they are holding a machette. When someone is deliberately concealing something in a way which is intended to look like it might be a gun, or brandishing something that could just be a realistic looking toy gun, then "what appeared to be a firearm" is the best factual statement that can be given. Whereas if someone points and shoots a gun at someone in plain sight – then they were in possession of a gun.
Get it?
Um, it says they saw it, not that it was concealed. We're not talking about pointing your finger in your pocket and calling it a gun.
So it was seen… how do you know it wasn't a toy or immitation gun until it was actually fired? There are plenty of them about and people in Cayman have been arrested before for holding what turned out to be their child's toy gun.
Are you really that…. never mind.
What a bunch of lunatics!
A word of advice to the police: When these crooks rob and they get away with nothing or disappointment, is when they are more eager to rob; hence, it is at this time (whilst it is bad weather) that you should be all undercover at strategic locations to await these desparate crooks. Regards
Would you like fries and a butter biscuit with that?
and a little tenderizer maybe?
That is what u get….suckers
That is what you get…
People; Who benefits from crime:
-Criminals, because it pays better.
-Insurance companies, because they can increase premiums.
-Politicians, because it distracts the people from the crime politicians commit.
-Security companies, because they make money on it. (See increase in banners)
-Churches, because people are afraid and church has the "solution".
-Lawyers, because they get more clients.
-Local business, because they can raise their prices even more.
Now, who is paying for all this:
-We the people, because we are ignorant, naive and too busy with our own stuff.
You are right, and that is why nothing is being done about it.
They all profit from it.
Hey, I think Robin Hood was 5' 3" wasn't he? Maybe he plans to return the cash register full of money 🙂
5'3" – sounds a lot like the 5'4" robber of the petrol station a while back that looked an awful lot like a woman in the picture. How many 5'3" men are there…or how many female brazen robbers are there? My bet is that it is one and the same.
: -)
4 words — "Da wha ya get" pity the EMPTY register couldn't drop on they toes as they were running away.
Maybe they try a few WB churches.
That is were the big money is
I expect those churches have passed that money along by now, to where it was intended to go all along.
Ha! That's what you get – nothing is all you thugs deserve.
Empty Register. Now thats likely to make them real mad.
Bet they will be back before long. I just hope that someone will be waiting for them and ready to deal with them appropriately.
These stupid criminals could have killed an innocent employee doing their job. What is happening in this country? Instead of robbing go get yourselves a job at least you will make some money and feel good at the end of the day for doing an honest days work and getting paid for it. Just too many idle hands in this country now.
Don't know if you heard but jobs are scarce. So this fact alone is incentive for the criminals.
What is a fact is that – the majority of today's unemployed persons are the same people who chose to be unemplyed when there were jobs in abundance before the recession came around. STOP MAKING EXCUSES for these convicts. There is work if they would go and whole heartedly look for it.
I disagree, tell me where the jobs are? My husband has been out of work for months and we have gone from construction site to constructions site, sent resumes to varios companies and even called people in Government who have promised to place them on a government site, that was months ago, still nothing. I think these "robbers" are young and have come from terrible backgrounds. Even if they were given a job they wouldn't know how to act or how to talk because they were brought up with nothing but a "gangsta" lifestyle. That's why I've always said there needs to be some kind of trade school where you can take this kids off the street, teach them how to talk properly, teach them how to do something so that they can enter the workforce and become a good citizen.
Cayman chases off the foreign investors, then Caymanians become criminals because there’s no money left here for jobs for them, so the rest of the foreign investors start going, so there’s less around to steal, and on it goes. Work? A job? Wha dat is?
