Uncle Clem’s robbed again

| 30/10/2011

(CNS): A local grocery store on Mary Street in George Town was robbed on Saturday night for the second time in two months. Police said that at around 7:30 yesterday evening (29 October) two masked men entered Uncle Clem’s Store and threatened staff. One of the men was holding what appeared to be a firearm but staff confronted the suspects, who both then ran out of the store stealing a bag containing coins. One of the robbers is described as around 6 feet tall, slim build with dark complexion and the second as around 5 feet 4 inches in height, with a stocky build and a light complexion.  (Photo Dennie Warren Jr)

Both of the suspects had their faces covered with black shirts and were wearing gloves, and after fleeing from the shop they ran in the direction of School House Road. Police stated that the suspects had not been apprehended, despite a search of the area, but officers from the CID are continuing investigations and viewing relevant CCTV footage.   An RCIPS spokesperson also said that the report of the crime was delayed due to witnesses not co-operating with the police.

No one was injured during the crime and on this occasion no shots were fired. When Uncle Clem’s was held up by an armed man in August, the masked gunman entered the shop just before closing and fired a shot into the ceiling before grabbing the cash bag from the register. On that occasion police arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of robbery in the wake of the crime but no charges were brought.

Anyone who has any information on this latest robbery is asked to contact Detective Constable Bowen at George Town CID 949 4222 or Crime Stoppers 800-8477 (TIPS.

So if there is a murder and then a rape, we the people should only march about the murder and forget the rape.

Wake up Star, we walk against the give-away and closing of "some sea washed road and views to some cocoplum trees" and you can organize a march against these robberies and we will march with you. We not like you and wearing udp blinkers, we do what is right for Cayman!

All those in favour of granting Uncle Clem a licence for concealed carry of a trusty little Glock 23, vote a thumbs up.

All those in favour of letting the criminals be the only ones with the guns, vote thumbs down (but of course then the terrorists will win, and you will be directly supporting crime).

All those who are too drunk/stoned to care, vote happy face.

All those who don’t care either way, don’t do anything.

Once again, where are the  police? Driving around in their air conditioned cars while the Commissioner does all he can to prevent victims from defending themselves?

Self defense is one of our basic rights. It should be promoted, encouraged, and given by the State to anyone who wants to learn it.

Any other policy is just insane.

Come on. Let's get going on self defense.

There's that 5"3 / 5"4 person again…..if it is a grown man, then surely it is likely to be the same as all the other robberies….there just aren't that many diminuative bad guys around.

this is what those people should be marching about not some sea washed road and views to some cocoplum trees.
