Pizza-man escapes gunman in foiled robbery
(CNS): A hooded would-be robber escaped empty handed on Tuesday night when his would-be victim screamed and ran away. Police said that at around 9:30 last night the 911 emergency centre received a report of an attempted robbery on a Pizza delivery man. The driver had gone to the wrong address in the vicinity of Candover Street, North Sound Estates, Newlands, Savannah. When he knocked on the door and asked if the residents had ordered a pizza the person said they had not. As he returned to his vehicle, he was approached by the lone robber who pointed what appeared to be a hand gun in his face and demanded money. The pizza man ran towards his vehicle screaming although followed by the gunman, the pizza-man ran around his vehicle to escape him.
He then ran back to the house where he had knocked on the wrong door. The assailant then ran off into the bushes towards Newlands empty handed. Described as having a brown complexion, a slim build and wearing a blue “t” shirt the gunman’s face was covered with a hoodie. No shots were fired and the victim was not physically injured.

Why not have undercover police deliver pizza for a week? When the coward that has been targeting these pizza delivery employees tries to rob an undercover officer arrest them (or better yet shoot them). Seems like a pretty simple undercover operation. Maybe the pizza company can entice the police force with a free pizza; God knows they will need some sort of incentive to conduct such an operation.

Was this just oddly worded?
The way it reads suggests that the pizza delivery man genuinely mistook that residence as the delivery address for an authentic order of pizza.
If that was in fact the case then that random, ideally positioned, illegally gun-possessing and illegally hooded wannabe-robber must have experienced the greatest stroke of luck in the history of mankind.
Moreover, if it is in fact the case then this is indiciative of exactly how bad things have become in Cayman.
Didn't think I would ever find myself saying such a thing – but I sincerely hope that this entire incident was a crafted set-up for the poor delivery man.

All delivery persons should not carry cash and all transactions should be made by credit or debit card either online or in person as the delivery person will carry a mobile credit card payment machine as used in the restaurant sector. Payments can also be made via a smartphone and by using these devices will help protect not only the drivers but homeowners as a robber might take the opporutunity to rob both. Cayman has to be more proactive and by stepping up efforts to lower robbery attempts. This driver was fortunate to be fatally wounded and the time will come unless we change our laws and policies. Most times the person(s) who are trying to rob will most likely be someone who made a call for a pizza delivery and it's very possible that it's a tactic to rob.

Maybe you work for the RCIP; but for everyone else being chased with a GUN and being ROBBED is a serious crime! Or is that reclassified as a minor offence now?
The Pizza delivery people should be armed and Domino's and Pizza Hut should become the new police force. They would do a better job than our police and Gowerment. You could walk around to to 30 houses in the immediate vacinity of where this happened. Ask to speak to any and all males present or otherwise in that house hold and run a 85% chance of finding someone who fit the profile of doing this. The management of the police is crap.
Stop being a police hater and bring up your children in the right way to fear God and respect the Law. That is why Cayman is in such a mess today, You people continue to support crime by condeming the police force.
You all that like to talk so much crap need to prevent crime rather than cure.
