The debate goes on and on … this is why the road needs to close, this is why we need two roads not one. OK, how about this … this is why that piece of road needs to move. Move where … Oh … I don't know maybe up to where the bypass is. I don't know the details of the accident, and hope everyone is OK. However, often on Sunday, as I am at the public beach i see how close the beach is to the road. Imagine your child chasing a float toy caught in the breeze in to the road?
When that road was built there, so close to the road there were barely any cars in Cayman. I remeber when I was small it wasn't so smooth and paved. The same reason I don't let my kids run around the way I used to is the same reason the road should move. More cars, more speed, less people looking out for others. Should we really have a beach with families right on the road …
should we wait for another accident? It is not safe to have the road so close to the beach that everyone uses … move the road, no, wait – we can't coz the land on the other side belongs to someone. OK then just move it in to where Dart will build it and be done.
I drove down that road a couple of hours before the accident and there were buses parked both side of the road – reducing the road to the equivalent of one lane.
This is highly dangerous and should be stopped immediately. It wont be too long before a tourist steps out between the buses thinking he is indeed at the side of the road only to find himself in the middle of a busy road.
Thank god this dangerous junction will soon be a thing of the past. The rerouted road will save many lives.
This junction will be replaced by another junction further south AND we will still have the problem of only having the one road in Dartville which will be closed when there is an accident on it.
A poorly designed junction done on the cheap will be replaced with a well thought out, properly designed and functional junction. Less people will die as a result.
how many?
thank Dart, not god
Once agin pointing out the need for TWO roads in and out of West Bay. Not just one new one.
Wrong, this particular accident was actually a result of taxi drivers driving recklessly in an attempt to pick up business from cruise shippers on public beach to get "back to the ship". Another reason that the road SHOULD be closed off in front of public beach, not to mention those buses/taxis at public beach need to be regulated like they are at the airport. Makes for ridiculous traffic conditions and an unpleasant atmosphere on the beach with the drivers constantly hassling guests to become passengers, not to mention the loud arguments that often break out among drivers, accusing each other of stealing passengers.
So now we not only have criminals using 'what appear to be' guns, but an accident involving 'what was believed to be' a van. Maybe some van recognition training is called for.
Hope everyone was okay…Thank God we have the "by pass"
