Burglars make off with safe full of cash from TI
(CNS): Police said they are seeking witnesses to a crime they believe occurred between 4 and 5am on Sunday morning at the Treasure Islands Resort on the West Bay Road. George Town CID has confirmed that security at the resort reported a burglary to George Town CID around 6am yesterday morning. Police are now looking for witnesses to the crime which has involved the theft of the safe from the resort’s main office. Police have given no further details but other sources tell CNS that the safe contained a significant sum of cash.
Anyone who saw any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area of TI is asked to contact 949-4222, the RCIPS tip-line 949-7777 or the confidential Crime Stoppers number 800-8477(TIPS).

The place is full of suspicious vehicles and people.
TI should start by cleaning up their car park and removing all the dumped cars with out a license . Maybe they can get the scrap guys to pick them up for free. That place is really going down hill.

That hotel will continue to drag down SMB so long as it stays in business the way it is. The crime wave along the southern part of SMB in the last two years has been shocking.

As a former resident of TI and someone who knows the inside of the office very well this has to be a joke.
TI has 'security' officers on site 24/7 plus CCTV and you'd need a small crane to lift the main safe out. If I remember rightly the CCTV feeds to a monitoring unit in the USA.
RCIPS I'll bet the culprit(s) are long gone by now, probably took the first flight out.
And as for suspicious persons and vehicles on the site in the early hours of the morning – expect a very long list, the parking lot under my room had comings and goings 24/7.
Security guards/companies need to do better!
I hate to say this but this seems to again be a case where the police need to release more information. When I think of "suspicous activity" in relation to a burglary its different from what I imagine it woul be to 'steal a safe'. Without full information the public will not be able to be as helpful as possible.
Hurrah for CCTV cameras. At that time of the morning, it should be EASY to capture all the plate numbers and car descriptions.

Is there no way to bolt a safe down from the inside so it cannot simply be picked up and carried out the door?
One would think business would do night deposits so there is not much cash in the
safe. Guess that would involve having security guards along when the deposit is made.
Wonder who knew there was a substantial amount of cash in safe??
Although in this climate of crime maybe it wouldn't have made any difference!!

Gonna go out on a limb and say NOBODY witnessed this great heist due to the timeline?!
A SAFE STOLEN. The robbers brought a dolly with them to move it or was it one of those combination safes all 8 years old have for their allowance?
