Police hunt machete robber

(CNS): The RCIPS are on the hunt for a masked man who held up a George Town store on Saturday evening with a machete. Police said Sunday that the man, who was wearing a bicycle helmet and a handkerchief over his face, entered Freestyle Men’s Apparel store on Shedden Road at around 9:10 last night, where he threatened a female store employee and left carrying a small quantity of cash. There was no one else in the store at the time and no one was hurt during the robbery. On arrival at the scene officers from various RCIPS departments searched the area but there was no sign of the suspect.

The suspect was 5’ 8”, slim build with dark complexion. He was wearing dark clothing, long sleeve shirt; he also had on a bicycle helmet with a handkerchief covering his face.

Police enquiries continue and officers are appealing for anyone who has information in relation to the robbery to come forward. Information can be passed to George Town CID on 949-4222, the RCIPS tip-line 949-7777 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477(TIPS).
