Victim disturbs home intruder

| 05/10/2012

(CNS):  Police are currently on the hunt for a burglar who broke into a woman’s apartment in George Town in the early hours of Thursday morning (4 October). An RCIPS spokesperson stated that at about 3:40am a female occupant of an apartment at George Town Courts, off Eastern Avenue, reported that a man armed with a knife entered her apartment through her unlocked front door. Alerted by rumbling noises in her bedroom, where the burglar was searching through her drawers, she shouted at the intruder but at first he continued searching. However, after she shouted a second time the burglar fled the apartment on foot.

The suspect was short in height, having a light complexion and a bearded face. He was wearing a green t-shirt, yellow pants, and he had a white t-shirt on his head. The burglar stole two Jamaican passports, one gold chain and one bracelet. He did not threaten the victim; there was no physical contact between the burglar and the victim and there were no physical injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCIPS CID at 949-4222, or Tip-Line on 949-7777, or to remain anonymous, are asked to use CRIME STOPPERS at 800-8477 (TIPS)

Green shirt and yellow pants? All he needed was a black "X" and every Jamaican flag would be a suspect.

The next time they report a story about crime being down they need to add 'But we are expecting a sudden surge in the coming weeks'…

As soon as crime statistics show decrease, the criminals resume their activity..Not the first time this happened. Just a coincidence?

And what do we get from the talking heads at the RCIPS? the usual speil Crime is Down! Yes Cayman right down on top of us. Cayman's crime cycle spins its wheels year after year while some ride around deluding those in power and crowning themselves Kings of  Law and Order.

Jewellery is being stolen.  Has anyone given any thought to the increase in jewellery that is being stolen.  Why?  It is easier to convert gold to cash.

It is time to close down the temptation to convert gold into cash.

Police work with the local cash for gold locations and if any stolen goods move through them  the people involved are being arrested and prosecuted.  Chances are these items are going off island to be sold.

I know this has nothing to do with the above story but nevertheless it was crime committed.  Did anyone see cayman compass, the man got off pretty easy for indecent assault on a woman…first of all once you read it, i call it attempted rape, secondly he couldn't even speak English, how on earth did the Immigration Department allow someone like that into this country…aren't they checking at the airport….a slap on the wrist is all he got

And crime is down ?? – armed break in off Bodden Road, armed hold-up in brad daylight at BritCay House, break in at George Town Courts – all within 36 hours. Is ACTUAL crime down, or the amount of crime incidents released to the Press.

"…entered her apartment through her unlocked front door…"

You cannot do that in Cayman anymore. We are now a first world country.

since when has Cayman been a first world country ?

"since when has Cayman been a first world country ?"

Since a significant number of the population has enough disposable income to spend on recreational and addictive drugs. Drug consumption fuels most break and enter crime.

The sooner all drugs are legalized and controlled the sooner the crime rate will drop.

Do you not remember the ill fated booze prohibition? The same rules apply today.

No.  We are not a "first world country" .  Maybe a third world country, or maybe a tad above a banana republic.  We have no leadership.
