Wheel thieves target Honda cars, cops warn

| 29/10/2012

images_39.jpg(CNS): The RCIPS has issued a warning to the owners and drivers of Honda motor cars following more than a dozen reports of stolen wheels. A police spokesperson said Monday that owners should be extra vigilant following this spate of wheel thefts in the George Town area. Since the beginning of September thirteen reports have been received by police regarding this unusual theft.  Senior PC Fran General, of George Town police station, said drivers can protecttheir wheels relatively inexpensively with locking wheel nuts and by avoiding parking cars in poor light.

“One set of locking wheel nuts can protect all four wheels on your car”, she said. “You should also try to park your car in a well-lit area to deter potential thieves.”

Although the recent thefts have been from Hondas, SPC General urged all car owners to invest in locking wheel nuts. “Although Honda is the vehicle of choice today, tomorrow the thieves may decide to target other makes and models of cars, so my advice is that it’s better to spend a few dollars now than face the huge expense of having to replace your wheels and tyres.”

Anyone who wants to speak to a police officer about crime prevention matters should contact their local police station.

The police needs to set up a sting operation or campaign along with the help of peeping/preying eyes in all neighborhood and apartment complexes. I’ll like to suggest we name it ‘Bumble Bee’ – The theme leading up to the crank down would be call is ‘A Sting’ and starting around 12 midnight we will launch Operation ‘Bumble Bee’

There is one that can shock the hell out of them call CUC Nut shocker thats available at A.L. Thompsons Home Depot or Car City. Its a jumper cables attached to small wires when trying to steal a the Honda nuts.

I don't think putting jumper cable on their nuts is a very nice thing to do.

Pop over to Parker's (ask for Rolando or Tee-do) and purchase the new Nut Alarm anti-wheel Lock System. When someone tries to unlock the nuts the battery/USP operated smart device will send a signal to a in-car receiver that sounds the car alarm and can also forward a text to any mobile phone, but that is an added on feature that is purchased separately.

Try a German Shepard or a Doberman Pincher….. But flood lights are the best as a thief don't like lights. Flood Lights that is – 100 watts.

It seems possible someone may have been trying to break into your car.

That was some moron trying out that new drill he bought at cash for gold.

Like I told my uncle when he warned me of this over the weekend, they come in to my yard with it, they better be prepared to be carried out of my yard (if you know what I'm talking about)! I will have no mercy on um! I could care less as to why they have sank so low to be stealing people's rims & tires! They need a proper assing!

I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!! Do they know what it is like to have to purchase a set of tires PLUS rims!? Of course not right! If they did we wouldn't have this issue! -throw the book at um!

Its not just wheels..people are coming outside their homes to find ENTIRE PORTIONS of their cars missing…bumpers, headlights, etc…

  8. Do not like thieves. says:

Interestingly in the last couple of weeks someone has drilled out the passenger door locks of a couple of cars (on separate nights) at a condo development at the south end of SMB.  Thieves gained access and did not steal anything.  Neither car was a Honda.  What are the chances since they did not steal anything inside the vehicle that they were looking for the wrench attachment for removing the locking wheels nuts that most people keepin their car for when a service comes around?

This happens all the time in Jamaica.  Several years ago I rented a Hertz car while on vacation there and within one day, they stole all 4 wheels.

  10. Expat says:

They stole my 4 tyres and rims, they left my car on top of cement blocks which they found next door, I keep seeing tyres and rims sold in Ecaytrade, is the police really investigating? I expect this to happen anywhere in the world, but Cayman???? Everybody should be aware that thsi is happening, my car was parked in West Bay, just off Watercourse.

I for one would not wish anything upon anyone, that I would not wish for myself. Sooner or later these things all boomerang back, and whilst I can understand and relate to the anger that theft causes…they will get their comeuppance, either at the hands of the law, or at the hands of the Lord, or some other twist of fate.

This proves there are brilliant people on this island. Now can someone take the wheels of the government and derail their crooked asses?

  13. Anonymous says:

They stole mine. Six feet away form my front door with the lights on, and two dogs in the yard, and someone sleeping in a bedroom not ten feet away. Thank you for bringing your own cement blocks to put under my car you ignorant bastards. It's OK though, I'm praying for you:

I haven't been to church since I don't remember when
Things were going great til they stole my wheels.
So I listened to the preacher as he told me what to do
He said you cant go hating others who have done wrong to you.
Sometimes we get angry, but we must not condemn.
Let the good Lord do His job and you just pray for them.

I pray your brakes go out running down a hill
I pray a flowerpot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the
    head like I'd like to
I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls
I pray you're flying high when your engine stalls
I pray all your dreams never come true
I pray your tire blows out at 110.

wherever you are honey, I pray for you.
    I pray for you.

I am not religious, and you are wrong. Whatever you wish(and do) to someone will come back to you.Simple like that.  I believe in KARMA. In this lifetime or another,Karma will catch up with the thieves.

I Pray for you also that you will get your car tyres back and that on 13 November 2012 we can come together for a day of prayer for this country.

And I hope the RCIP will be working in conjunction with the shipping companies to ensure that there "items" are not being shipped off!!

As in the case with other such instances.

    • Anonymous says:

Exactly. Stuff is stolen in Cayman & shipped to other places; no wonder it doesn't turn up here. Come on RCIPS, I work in an office & even I get to hear how the thieving scum do things yet you seem unable to stop this & crime.
